A New State Capital. —— Harnrissura, Feb, 23.—In the House to-day Mr. Barnes, of Harris burg, introduced a bill for the erection of new state buildings. The bill speci. fies that the commissioners of public buildings and grounds are hereby au- thorized to advertise in not more than twenty-five newspapers of this and other states for plans and specifica= tions for a suitable building at Har, risburg within the present lic grounds, to be occupied as a State Capital and so constructed as to afford accommodation for all the state departments jlegisiative, executive and judicial, said building to cover not less than 160,000 square feet of sur face ; also, for plans and specifications for a state library building to eover not less than 80,000 square feet of surface; and as soon as said commis sioners have adopted suitable plans pub- # and specifications they shall fix a site for said building and immediately commence its erection, TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSE. To detray any expense incurred be- fore the meeting of the next legisla- ture the sum of $300,000 is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be drawn upon the warrant of the said commissioners, approved by th, auditor general. shall also advertise for proposals for the construction of said library build- ing and allot the same tothe best bidder, who shall give security ap proved by the court of Dauphin eoun- ty, in the sum of $50,000, for the pro’ posed construction of the work, which shall be of indestructible material. Alz0 plans and specifications for an executive mansion within the city of Harrisburg, to cover a surface of not less than 20,000 square feet. PAY TO ARCHITECTS. And there shall be paid for approv- ed plans for all the buildings the work of one architect, $3,000. For an approved plan for capitol only, 81,500. For an approved plan for a library only, 81,000. For an approved plan for an execu- tive mansion, $1,000. If the commissioners decide that any of the plans submited, but not ac- cepted shall become public property, they may purchase the same at a cost not exceeding $500 each. TUSSEY VILLE CONVENTION, The musical convention at Tussey- ville is now a thing of the past and an event long to be remembered by the people of Tusseyville and vicinity, and saying the least it was a success, musio- ally, socially and financially, Almost every nome was thrown open to receive all strangers who came to take part in the convention. All the strangers present speak very highly of hospitality shown to them by citizens of this vicin- ity sud signified their intention to come again should another such occasion oo- cur.
