A dispatch from Baltimore this af- ternoon states that Assistant District Attorney Docey, Inspector Garraugh- ty and John Donahue, alias “John Bull,” of Boston, are in that city. Donahue is the man who was ap- proached, it is alleged, with the prop- osition to commit the murder. The man to whom the dispatch was direc. ted, on account of which Mrs, Coa- lidge was arrested Saturday night, is 5° Mellon, proprietor of the St. James Hotel, Baltimore. and the Boston of- ficers are unable to find him, His son Charles, who has been living in lodgings with his young Irish wife, refuses to believe the story. THE PLOT DEEPENS, Bavrimore October 27.—~Develop ments in the story started by the ar- rest in Boston of Mrs. Emma Coalidge fail to show any motive for a desire to put out of the way the young wife of Edward 8. Mellon, of this city. It seems that about three years ago a bright Eoglish girl, Mary A. Somer- set, secured employment at the St. James Hotel, of which A. 8, Mellon, father of Edward I. is proprietor. The young man formed an attach- ment for her, which resulted in the birth of an illegitimate child, and the young people secretly lived together as man and wife for some time, Last Spring they quarreled and were not reconciled until April 14th, last, when Miss Somerset called at the St. James and told her story to the mother of her seducer, who immedi- ately sent for a priest and insisted on the two being married at once, snd thoy consented. These wanderers had been making themselves comfortable in the hollow back of the “three cul verts'' and had buill a fire, This latter caused the fences on the dairy farm of Jaker to be in considerable dan- ger, and the officers were called upon to disperse the crowd, No arrests were made, for the reason that quite a num: ber of the campers-out were cripples. They asserted they had been given permission to make themselves oor fortable and built the blaze to boil soine coffee, After all the life led by these men is full of hardships, and why they presist in engaging in it is beyond conjecture, It would be far better for theones who cannot work to go to the different almshouses in the state, They would receive better shelter and be better cared for, They seem, however, to be joined to their idols and would rather lead a wandering life, Tyibune, Frox the Lancaster Pminer: “There is ono drawback to the succes of “The Mikado'—the dresses of the ac- tresses are 100 long for popular taste,” Pull them up higher at the neok, a ox $11) *sdui pn jI04g pum ‘s | B =] The bile wreak | Headaches, | liver and | ensue, A few doses of Host ach Bitters will reform these evil | preve nt further injury. grievous constipation, pan stomach, jaundice, tter's Stom- s and is a pleas. | ant aperient, itsaction upon the bowel being unaccompanied by griping.
