Youth Seeks Relief Frem "Aura" Te the Editor of the Evening PubUe Ledger: .5!f nm n $al rcnlcr of ,he Eve Eve wme Pynue Lehebii and take Inter est In looking ever the questions nnd answers In It. Today I noticed an answer te one of them thnt has some relation te me. Thnt is the "aura." As I'm troubled with epilepsy I have the following sterv te id in wuicu i nm trying te find nn answer. At the age of four 1 was laid down with scnrlct fever, and had te be taken te the hospital, where It Is treated. 1 was the cause of much trouble and was punished for It in the following man ner: Tied te a bed In the girls' word and given scanty feed for two or three days (besides being whipped). Alt this was administered by the head nurse. After the punishment was up I wns still forced te s'ecp In the girls' ward. This was the direct cause of the wards being changed around the girls occu pying the ward which was formerly the boys', nnd vice versa. Of course, the mortification of being forced te sleep In the girls' ward caused the ether children te tense me, and my temper wns werse than ever, but It couldn't be helped. After seven weeks' treatment I was released. I wns bathed In warm water which felt very het and kept en scream ing through the whole washing. After that I was given a cold bath which seemed te be freezing, as I had just been In the warm water. This caused me te scream worse than ever. " Of course, the head nurse did net like it and she threatened te take me back te the hospital the next time I caused any trouble. Then 1 wns given te my parents, who were waiting te take me home. After I reached home, whenever I thought of the punishment I received at her hands and the threat of being taken te the hospital again that sensation, "the aura," overcame me nnd I would have en attack. My parents started te take me te one doctor after another, but their treatments were of no avail. I am new eighteen years of age and still hnve the attacks. (Setting that sensation In the Intes tines, I knew when an attack is com ing en. I've tried te overcome It, but could net. I would put my mind en It and try te prevent it from coming up te my head, but it would finally overcome me nnd I would lese my senses. During these attacks I'm liable te de anything. Once I nearly choked my younger sister te death, having such a grip around her neck thnt nobody could take my hands nway until the attack wns ever. Thank Ged I didn't kill her. New I believe If there Is any treat ment te prevent that "nurn" from getting te my bend the epileptic attacks would step. I've been trying te find out what that sensation was, and this answer in today's paper has cleared that part up. New the question is, "Hew can thnt aura be stepped?" It lasts from two te five minutes, and I would have time te step It if it could be stepped ; which would prevent the epileptic attacks. Cnn you tell me of any doctor or professor who could cive me nny treat ment te prevent thnt aura? It has In terfered with my education nnd I haven't been In nny nthletic event be cause I have no .strength. The only en jeyment I've bad In lire is reading books, because In anything else I wouldn't be wanted. SAMUEL KAVITSKY. 1112 Seuth street. Philadelphia. June 12. 1022.
