The pirates cheered ns they looked upon the shore they had long ago called home. They cheered because Peggy nnd Wily had helped set them free from tho diamond in which they had been shut up hundreds of years ago by the maRic of Maglsco, the fairy wizard. They cheered, too, because they bad been changed from gloomy, bad pirates to happy, good pirates. 'Hurrah for freedom!" they shouted. "Hurrah for Twinkling Isle! Hurrah for I'eggy and Billy! Hurrah for the glad feeling that comes from being good! Hurrah! Hurrah!" Peggy and Billy, standing on the deck with Captain Black Lye, the pirate chief, were ns happy ns the pirates themselves. They felt they lind done n fine job in turning the bad pi rates into good pirates, thus setting them free. Ah the pirates cheered three persons appeared on the beach. They were Folly Wither, the goblin: Flower of the Forest, the Afrlcnn girl, aud loutn of the Lion Heart, the African brave. They had heard the shouts and rnn gajfy to greet the ship they saw sailing Into the bay. But Folly Wisher and the African Mirages gave only one look nt the pi rate ship, and then they turned nnd ran ns fast as they could to hide among the trees and bushes. They ran be cause they had seen the Has floating above tho pirate ship the black flag with the white skull and crossboncs. They knew that flag meant pirates nnd they knew pirates usually weic bad. "Oh. I wish they would conje back. cried Peggy, as she saw her friends - run away. She wanted them to see that the bad pirates had become good Pontes. .... , , "You shall have your wish," cried Captain Black Bye. "No one can es cape from the bold and cunning crew of the Merry Mngpic. Lower away the boats, my hearties." So the pirates lowered away the boats, and taking Peggy nnd Billy, they rowed to shore. When they stepped upon the beach the pirates were so glad to touch land again, after sailing for hundreds of years inside the diamond, they dropped on their knees and kissed the sand. Then nt the order of Cap tain Black Eye they scattered through the woods to hunt the goblin and the two savages. As the pirate chief had said, tho pirates were good hunters, and they quickly found Folly ishcr tinder a bush and Flower of tho lorcst up a tree. But they didn't catch Flower of the Forest uutil after n hard tight with Youth of the Lion Heart, who fought nobly to defend her. The pirates dragged the three cap tives to the beach, where stood Captain lilacK uye. reggy anu niuy uu mu den In the shrubbery. ... , "Oh, oh, oh!" wailed Colly Wisher. "Now wo are goners. These bad pi rates will make ns walk the plank. Oh. oh. oh! I wish Peggy and Billy were here to rescue us!" At that Peggy and Billy jumped from their hiding places and stood before Folly Wisher and the nstonished sav ages. "You shall have your wish, Folly Wisher," said Peggy very grandly. "With n wave of my hand I will turn these pirates into good pirates, and they will set you free, treating you ns honored guests." Pcggv waved her hand, and the pi rates, who had been scowling blackly, suddenly smiled brightly nnd burst into their new pirate sons: "We are nice, good pirates Who sail the tumbling sea. No other good pirates Are half so good as we." The pirates danced around Folly Wisher and the savages, and threw to them pieces of gold, enough to mnkc them rich. Tho three were then very happy, but they were especially glad because Peggy nnd Billy had come back safe and sound. While the pirates were dancing, Peggy heard a buzzing beside her ear. She looked around and there was Flit ter Flash, the fairy lender, trying to talk to her. Peggy raised her ear '.rumpct. and this is what she heard Flitter Flah say: "Pirates locked up are pirates sad, Jiralcs free may bo pirates bad." But 'No pirates free did not become .Urates bad. as will be told tomorrow. SHIPPING SACKS k ... .t. .A n thjkli.
