There are .' Bel! Central Office, and nearly a quarter or a million Bell Telephone, in Philadelphia.
T opcr-iff d tem of this sue bv the Machine Switching method requires the dialing of the first three
letter or the Central Office name (FILbcrt, WAL nut, etc.) and the tour digits of the number which follows.
All OH k'INSON numbers have been changed
to OREGON.
All MAXHEIM numbers hae been changed
to WYOMING.

Other Changes
1. An "0" (Zero) has been
prefixed to all telephone
numbers between ICO

to them.
It is expected that the first Machine Switching central office will be installed within the next year, when
subscribers in certain central office areas will be provided with instruments which will be equipped with
dials. With the installation of these telephones, subscribers will be able to make local calls by dialing
the numbers as thev appear in the present directory. Because of the great number of important changes
in the new directory, patrons arc urged to consult the directory, always, before making a call.
