HENRY imiNTON COXE tells mc that Auxiliary No. 1 of the Southeastern Chnptcf of the Amer ican lied Cross, U to hnvo a reunion at lied Cross hendnunrters on Mnndny afternoon nt 3 o'clock. There Is to bo a short business meetluj nnd then n ten and good time. Mrs. Core, you know, is chairman of that auxiliary nnd the a omen connected with it did such mng nlfieent work during the wnr nnd slnec then, when there was need, thnt they remain banded together nnd ore ready for any emercency. They have given up their own headquarters, at 1512 Spruce htrect, but meet now nnd ngaln when there is occnslon nt the headquarters, IMS South Ilittenhousc square, as they will on Monday. I was very interested to henr of the work the women of thnt auxiliary did during the wnr. You know originally they comprised the Philadelphia General Chapter for Prepnreducss.nnd then when the war came they entered as n body into the Hod Cross as Auxiliary No. 1. For n short time thev had rooms on the second floor of 008 Chestnut street, nnd thn Inter moved to 1512 Spruce street, where they virtually occupied the entire house, various rooms being assigned to nrious activities. Such excellent work d!il thee women do thnt nbout tho mid dle of the wnr the Pennsylvania-Delaware division of the Ked Cross took over the whole auxiliary ns an instruc tion department. Mrs. Coxc had been mnde director of the Pennsylvania Pelaware department of knitting nnd Mrs. Pen Brush, who Is vice chnlrmnn of the auxiliary, was made director of the department of garments for the di vision first. Finally the whole aux iliary was used, ns I said before, but it never lost Its Identity ns Auxiliary No. 1. This auxiliary undertook the first big feeding of the ennteen. In fact, Mrs. Cove says the women have been simply wonderful throughout the whole work. Mrs. Thomns .T. Dolnn Is the Recond vice chairman of the auxiliary, and Mr. Tom Heath Is their treasurer. Mm. Theodore Cramp had the ranleen de partment. Mrs. 'William Norris, Mrs. William Campbell, 5I1sh Mary Girvln ; in fact, I can't begin to tell you nil of thoe who took part in the work nnd did It indefntlgnbly. And on Monday they are to huvc this party, which will be a real leunion nnd renewal of the tics which bound these earnest women so closely together during the great war. I SAW Mrs. Tom Ncwhnll on Chestnut street the other day looking too smart for nn thing. She vuh wenring n one niece frock of dark blue gabardine cm broidcrrd in blue and held in at the wniit line with n hnndsome blue cord. Her lint was n rather high-crowned model with a narrow brim ; It wns of henna velvet and she wore with it n black French lncc veil. A dark fur wns nrrnnged nbout her neck nnd she was stunning looking. BIT, LI 10 was Just kneeling down to say his prayers the other evening when mother was cnlled to the telephone for an Important reason nnd go she said . "Darling, kneel down nnd say your prayers while mother Is gone. You know them by heart nnd it will please Clod, If you do It nil yourself." The conversation being very short on the telephone, she hastened back to the nursery to look through the crack in tho door. There she beheld IHUIe kneel ing on the floor quite, n little distance from the bed nnd Rnying his little prny, ers In his reverent bnby voice. "Why did Pllllf kneel so fnr from the bed?" asked mother when the prnvers were finished. "Why I hnd to," said Billio. "t hnd to leave room for God's knees." NANCY WYNNE.
