IIROAD AIM II aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ik Sumter the Hub . What tve arc establishing there. At Sumter, near the center of South Caro lina, four lines of railroad intersect. On the map it looks like a broken cartwheel with eight spokes. At the hub of the wheel we are establishing a new "concentration point" for rough lumber. If you live in a house that has lumber in it, Sumter will interest you. Lumber, you see, is bulky, heavy, and awk ward to handle, and loading and unloading adds "like sixty" to the cost. If it is handled once in the forest, twice at the mill, then loaded on cars and sent to a Northern yard, there unloaded and piled up,-and finally loaded on trucks and-hauled to the operation, that makes, say, six handlings. It is too many. It's an absurd waste of time, labor and money. Now if we can arrange so ns to save even one handling, you see how much more quickly we can de liver lumber to our customers. That is what we are planning to do at our Sumter "hub." But the story can't all be told in one advertisement, it will have to be continued in our next. In the meantime, remember this: Some day you'll build. If you want the work fin ished on time, see that the lumber comes from LLOYD. William M.
