Miss Thompson's Tea I THINK that nffnir Hint the Charlie Foxes are to Rive for Sarah Harri son tho night o the first of Novem ber will bo a whole lot ot fun, don't you? It's to bo an old-fanhioned In formal country dance. Tho l'oxcs have tho loveliest old farm house and grounds out at Spring House, which H Just between, Pcnllyn and Gwynedd Valley. " Their house lias, of course, been Modernized, and the, old, low-ceilingcd rooms have the prettiest papers and chintz curtains nnd wonderful, old fashioned mahogany furnlturc It.'s just one, of the loveliest places I have ever seen'. Mrs. Fox was Miss Mary Large, you. know, a sister of Mrs. Joseph Harrison, who was Miss Mar garctta Large, and so, of course, Sarah is a niece of Mrs. Fox. " Sarah has been staying with her grandmother, Mrs. Harrison, in ltose mont, and Maude, her sister, has been there too, going in to school every day. Mr. nnd Sirs. Harrison have been in Cape May all summer and will move up the end of next week. They have taken a house in Itosemont, where they will spend the winter. T WAS so glad yesterday to hear that -- Uytendale Caner is better. She had been quite ill at her home, 810 1'ine street. I saw Mrs. liaird yesterday and she told me that Uytendale was convalescent, so I pass the' news on to you. T HOPE the weather will be clear to- day because it's Elinor Thompson's debut, you know, nnd she is going to have her ten at her home, Brookwood Farm, in Greenville, Del. Not that it's so very far to go, but it is a dis tance nnd rajii is" not an encouraging addition t'tf a tea. Elinor has some of. the1 smartest girls of the season among those receiving with" 'her and I' believe it will be a lovely party. Elinor is th-j younger sister of Mary Thompson, who married Tom Rcath, Jr., nnd of Kath erino and Henry 15. Thompson, Jr. Her parents are Mr. nnd Mrs. Henry B. Thompson. Somo of the receiving party are Nannie Dale, Mtiry and Ellen Glendinning, Catharine Coxe. Susan Groome, Pauline Thayer and Anna Lewis. AREN'T rummage sales the greatest things? Some, kindly men who stopped in at the Independence Square Bed Cross on Wednesday to buy the luncheon served at the sale, almost lost their best new winter lints, just because an enterprising saleslady Rathered them all up as they lay on one of the tables at the back of the room and remarked "Tlipse ought to be in front, they'll never sell back here." "No, madam, I hope they won't," cried one of the lint's owners, as'he hastily explained, "That's mine. I put it down to eat my lunch." Indeed I put my best .silk umbrella down a minute and fortunately thought of it just as I was going out, or I might have been minus a very handsome affair, that I would't give to any cause, which remark is not generous, but true. A NOTHEIt week almost gone nnd more debblcs introduced, nnd the larger parties wl'l begin this week, too, though the McAllisters had quite a good-sized dance at the White Marsh last evening for' Margaret Ross. Next week there will be the dance for Sarah Dolan out at the Dolan place in Devon on Halloween and the night before. Tho otherday she sat down and wrote a-Iovely long letter to Daddy's mother telling her how she had been fixing things in the new home and various otherjiits of Interest'. Ellen was seated beside Mother she's not very often far away from her, you have noticed. She was playing with "my babies" and singing them to sleep, when Mother said, "What shall I tell Nana, dear?" "Tell her you have a hug and a kiss and a stralghtcned-up house," said Ellen blithely. NANCY WYNNE.
