The Repub licans captured the Excise Commission In Camden city by a plurality of moro than B000 votes over the nonpartisan "No License ticket," the Democratlo candidates running; third. Sheriff Joshua C. Haines, Republican candidate for State Senator, led the ticket. In Camden city he received 10,634 votes to 2B92 cast for Wllford B. Wolcott, the Independent-Fusion candidate. Ills major. Ity In tho county was nearly 12,000, with four districts to bo heard from. Assemblyman Charles B. Wolvcrton took second honors In tho point of votes re celved. "Both Haines and Wolverton are committed to local option and had the sup. vuri oi me cnurcn element. Camden cave W. 1'enn Corson 981B votes, against 2949 for Duncan W. Blake, the Independent fusion candidate for Sheriff. Blake made a better showing; In the county, however, receiving; G710 votes, to 16,063 for Corson, with four districts to be heard from. Blake's best showing was In Glouces ter City, his homo town. Harry Reeves was re-elected Surrogate over ex-Sheriff Joseph Nowrey. Reeves re celved 8925 otes In the city and 14,449 votes In the county, as against 3468 and 6697, respectively, for Nowrey. The fUBlon Isls had pinned their hopes on Nowrey, who made the best showing. Ralph N. Kellum and Dr. Paul N. Litch field were elected to the Assembly by sub stantial majorities. Freeholder, councllmanlo and Justice of the Peace berths went to the Republicans In Camden. In tho Twelfth Ward, Council man Abbott was re-elected after a hard fight by a majority of seventy-one votes. Abbott received 660 votes to 689 cast for King, tho fusion candidate. The returns, as compiled today by City Clerk Johnson, showed that they elected all cf their municipal candidates with the excep tion of a member of City Council and jus tice of the peace. They also gave the county ticket a majority with the exception of 8herlff. The vote was very heavy and much cutting was done on both sides.
