-Mr. Clothier died last Saturday. He was
seventy-one years old. He had been In 111
health for several months, but untlt his con
altlon became critical, several days ago, It
was thought that he would recover. Death
was due to heart disease
A native of Philadelphia and descendant
of an old Colonial family, Mr. Clothier at
tended the Friends' Central Schooh He
launched, at an early age Into tho whole
sale dry goods business. He afterward
became a partner In the firm of Klwr. Sey
bert & Clothier. He entered tho firm of
Strawbrldge & Clothier In 1S88 He re
tired from the firm in 1903.
He was a member of the Union League
the Historical Society. Manufacture!-' rinh
Merlon Cricket Club and Bachelors' Barge
Club. He was Interested In outdoor nnnrtx

both In this country and abroad.
On Juno 16, 1905, Mr Clothier married
Mrs. Florence M. Allen at tho home of the
bride In Church lane, Germantonn Ills
first wife died in October, 1900. Besides
a. widow, he Is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. William Sanderson, of lladtfleld Hall,
Warkworth, England, and .Miss Marlon
Clothifr, and one son, Robert Clarltson
