The owner may lose money the workman may lose his life. It is better to lose a minute in avoiding a possible accident than a month in nursing an injury. Get into the habit of being careful. When you see a person do a careless or thoughtless thing "CALL HIM DOWN" and don't be afraid of hurting his feelings HOW TO BECOME A CAREFUL MAN Watch your health. Strong muscles, an active brain and a steady hand are valuable in any calling. The man who thinks clearly is the man who acts safely. Don't allow your tools to lie around, or permit your work bench to remain in a disorderly condition. Be wakeful to changing conditions. When an unusual condi tion arises, give it immediate and proper attention. Don't walk on railroad tracks; don't get off moving cars or trains. Follow work orders and office rules carefully, and be particu larly cautious when doing new work. A careful man is always ready to learn better methods, even when the idea comes from a subordinate. Don't "monkey" with electrical apparatus; use every possible precaution in the presence of electric wires. Don't work with gloved hands or loose clothing around ma chinery which is in motion. Don't work without goggles in any occupation that expose your eyes to flying particles of metal or stone. The worst menace to life and limb is the careless man The best insurance against accident is the careful man See that YOU profit by near accidents This campaign is supported in the interest of humanity by the following Manufacturing Interests, Financial Institutions, Public Service Corporations, Insurance Companies, Firms and Individuals: The Pennsylvania Railroad Company The Philadelphia & Reading Railway Co.
