An Opportunity
in
Short Term Invettmenti
e
The demand for short-term
notes has so diminished
the supply and advanced
prices that safe offerings
on their former remunera
tive basis have become
much ' Jess plentiful. We
are now directing attention
to a Public Utility Note,
maturing in less than two
years, secured by I25ff in
general mortgage bonds,
issued by a strong, well
established company and
which can be purchased at
the original offering price.

No particular news was forthcoming to
Account for the decline except the Ben

when the New York list began to Im
prove, but the recovery Wns not sustained
nnd Storage sank back to 74 In the final
hour.
A two-point rise In Crump Shipbuilding
was a feature of tho midday dealings.
Cambria Steel started out strong, but en
countered liquidation around 69 and fell
back again, whereas United States Steel
fluctuated Irregularly. Lake Superior was
relatively steady. The bondholders' com

tho Dank of Montreal, either In London
or In Montreal, on or boforo September

COTTON.
N'EV YOnK. Sept. 7. The Hesperian Inci
dent came In lor a large share of attention
from cotton traders this momlns and was
the cause of heavy unloading at the start.
First prices were ."1 points higher to 2 polnta
lower. It waa not apparent, however, that
room traders were dloposed to take a Bloomy
Mew of the arfalr, and there waa rood buying;
after the call, which gradually absorbed the
offerings and carried the whole list above
Fridays close. Kcw Orleans was an active
buyer and there was also some evidence of
purchasing bv spot houses.
