changed hands. Westmoreland Coal rose
$2. The day's total sales of Storago Bat
tery were over 10.000 and tho general local
trading was tho largest in a long time

the Ilrst two showing a good deal of ac
tivity. Later the traders turned to the
tractions nnd bid those Issues up a sub
stantial fraction. So brisk was the gen
eral trading in stocks that bonds were
practically neglected.

That there may bo' somo big orders on
the bookn for the Electric Storage Bat
tery Company from foreign sources la
hardly to bo doubted in view of tho heavy
demands for batteries and other electrlo
supplies from war sources. The Allies
are, no doubt, steadily Increasing their
submarine flotillas, where the electrical
generator Is an essential requisite. Tho
company, however, merely contents It
self with reporting a good increase ,In
general business and is said to bo earn
ing a little over 7 per cent, on the stock.
From sources close to the management,
however, it was heard that negotiations
are under way for furnishing tho equip
ment for a largo number of war launches
for the English Government, and that
somo announcement may be made before
tho end of the week.

of $5,023,600 In 1916, against $1,766,791 In 1911;
net earnings decreased by $33,067 from

crease from $111,405 In 1914 to $33,625 this

The Great Western Power Company for
