Daniel J. McCarthy, a cleric In tho de
partment of tho City Treasurer, nnd a
director of tho 22d Ward Republican Club
of Gcrmantown, died yesterday at his
home, 353 East I'rlca street, after a
lingering Illness. Mr. McCarthy, who waB
62 years old, was born In Limerick, Ira
land, and came to this country In his

St. Vincent's Temperance Society, a mem

Allen Swede, forward of Norrlstown High
Rchonl. proved himself one of tha leading
scorers In Pennsylvania nnd New Jersey schol
astic ranks. He totaled 328 points in 1.1
games, including 07 field goals and 134 foul
tallies. Captain Ida accumulated 170 points
for the season, playing In 11 games.
Although Catholic High School's basketball
season Is over, the Purple and Gold followers
nre manifesting much Interest in the post
season contest with the alumni five at Cooper
Battalion Hall next Thursday Pig league

Mrs. Stiles was born In this city, but
lived tho greater part of her life In New
Jersey, whero her ancestors figured In
tho early history of that Stato. She was
tho daughter of the lato Abraham S. and
Rllzabetli H. Acklcy, her father for half
a century being ono of the largest lum
ber merchants In Camden. Four daugh
ters survive: Misses JIary H, tmd Helen
Stiles, Mrs. W. If. Hansell, of Merlon,
and Mrs. V. C. Pricho'.t, of Haddonfleld.

foremost woman art dealers In this coun
try, who conducted private galleries of
selected works of art In tho Glrard Build
ing, died yesterday at her home, 1222
South 40th street. She was formerly
affiliated with the art galleries of James
S. Earle & Sous, since gone out of exis
tence. Miss Weeks was the daughter of
William W. Weeks, who met his death
during the Civil War In the battle of
Spottsylvania. She took an active part
In the movements of the Civic and Cen
tury Clubs, and was the first associate
woman member of the Fortnightly Club
She was also Identified with the Arts nnd
Letters Society and the Pennsylvania
Academy of Fine Arts. The funeral
services will be held tomorrow afternoon
