Tit Tim NextennAneallon In Ake `Rhinole Concerning the . Departure; of the Veen Mlnleter. 'The' House is still anxious for light ". uppn the Mexican question. The Presi dent has againbeen requested to furnish .', Information as to the steps Maximilian '',...has - ..takett to secure a recognition from us, and what reply has been made. The rumors in circulation for a day or 'two concerning the departure of M. Montholon, the FreiTielr'Minister, are - • gradually assuming shape and credi bility. He hits been New York for several days, anii_those in position to know assert that he has broken off the entente cordial, and has no _ intention fo returning to the capital • until he ascertains the wish of the Em ' peror. He has despatched M. Faverney, Secretary of the French Legation, as special messenger to Paris to report the threatening aspect of affairs here. Mr. Seward's reply to Napoleon's request for the recognition of Maximilian, and the action of the House on the Monroe doctrine resolutions, are each considered alarming by M. Montholon. Twenty six hundred additional French troops have just arrived at Veia Cruz, and let ters from Paris state that six thousand are on the way. If this be true Napoleon expects our interference and has decided to anticipate it These rumors, how ever, do not appear to excite the slight est apprehension on the part of the Western members of Congress.—N. Y. Herald. The Boys In Blue It is but a short time since we heard extravagant laudation of the scarred veterans returned from the war, and deserving well of their country. The Republican Conventions passed unani mously, high sounding resolutions in favor of the loyal heroes, and insisted upon giving them the civil offices in preference to all others. Two soldiers offered themselves for candidates to the Republicans of the city for the office of Mayor last Saturday, but were effectu ally snubbed. How the prominent candidates chuckled at the verdancy of the returned soldiers expecting any favor at the hands of those who prom ised so liberally.—Pittsburg Post. ' Made Famous Col. W. W. H. Davis, our gallant and talented candidate for Auditor General in the late election, has at length been made famous for all coming time. Hear his own account of the time when and the manner how. He says : Mr. Joseph Samsel, of Erwinna, has done us the honor to call his boat, which floats on the placid bosom of the Dela ware Canal, W. W. H. Davis. Two of his boats have borne this name. The first one was lost in the great storm in the summer of 1865, and since then it has been replaced by a new boat. It runs from Erwinna, and is engaged in general trade. We have no doubt that it will do a thriving business. The next best thing to living in history is to have one's name perpetuated on the stern of a canal boat. Georgia a State in the Union The President has seen fit, in spite of the vaporing of the radicals, to officially proclaim the State of Georgia to be a sovereign State fully within the Union. The following is the despatch announc ing the fact: Secretary Seward has addressed a let ter to Provisional Governor Johnson, o Georgia, couched in precisely the same terms as the one sent yesterday to Gov ernor Parsons, of Alabama, relieving him from his trust as Provisional Gov ernor, and has also sent a message to the new Governor of Georgia, similar in terms to that sent yesterday to the new Governor of Alabama. THE Heral(l'B Charleston correspon dent says : The rebuilding of the city is about to confluence in earnest. Mr. Theodore D. Wagner will soon have a force of from five hundred to six hun dred mechanics and laborers engaged in the cleaning and erecting of new build ings in the burnt district, laid waste in the great fire in 1861. Mr. Wagner has in contemplation the erection of some two hundred handsome buildings and stores by the first of July. Others of smaller capital are commencing to clear their buildings. The admission of the State into the Union would have a won derful effect on the business and pros pects of the city. Capitalists are cheer fully investing money. Troiroional Tanta. SHOCKING ACCIDENTS. MANY KILLED AND A LARGE NUMBER WOrTNDED. Over two hundred accidents from kicking and running away of horses occurred during ,the past year, in Lancaster county alone— nearly all of which resulted in injuring the drivers, killing some, maiming and wounding others, and In most cases, breaking costly car riages and hurting the hors s ltd6 - .8 w* 48 Of the above, nine-tenths were tame family horses. The Safety Bridle will put an end to all such needless accidents, and with the Safety Lines the speed of ever , horse is easily much increau d. At a special meeting of the Saddlers of Lan caster county, Pa., held in Lancaster city, Nov. 27, 1845, the following resolutions were unani miously adop ed : WHEREAS, The usefulness, power and safety of/Dr.Plartman's Safety Bridle and Lines have been publicly demonstrated in the presence of from one thousand to df een hundred persons to their entire satisfaction; and since it was proven at the 311 lersville horse exhibition on four of the most vicious and ointirmed kickers and runaways, that with the Safety Bridle and Lines It is utterly impossible for a horse either to kick or run away; :therefore Resolved, That we, the Saddlers of Lancaster county, Pa., believe that the Safety Bridle and Lines accomplish all, and even more, t •an is claimed by the patentee, in preventing horses from kicking and running away. Resolved, That iu view of the above facts, we deem it our legitimate duty, both Individu Ily and collectively, to exert all honorable means to at once introduce the Bridle and Lines, be cause In doing so we in a very great measure prevent all accidents with horse, while with the old and defective bridle we put In great Jeopardy both lite and limb. Resolved, That hereafter we manufacture no other but Safety Bridles, ante s especially or dered. The price of Individual Rights is Id each ; County Rights, from ,9100.1./0 t0i1300.00, according to population—Muse containing .urge cities excepted. COMZIMI Vend'. oni Expo'n, Nov. Term, 1865, No.l, Execu tion Docket. - - No other investment before the public pre sents such inducements of making money. In ever county there are at least twenty town ships, and in each township at least one hun dred persons who drive ha ses—which a- five dollars for an individual right will amount to $5OO per township, and ten thousand dol ars ($10,000) for each county at the rate of twenty townships at live hundred dollars each ! I;have not the least doubt but that amount of money can be made out in a county with proper bus.- ness tact and energy. The price of counties is so small as to p ace the investment in the hands of every oue, for few are so poor as to be unable to raise one hundred do.lars. _ . Another feature about this invention is that the proprietor of territory need not manufac ture the bridles and lines, as the ordinary bridle can be easily alt-red into a Safety. The lines only require to be made to order, and these can be made by any saddler far a trifle more than the ordinary lines. Hence, unlike other patents, the right to use it only is sold No man need wish fur a greater f rune than right of a State. To show the confidence the paten, ee has in nis invention, he otters to pay one thousand dollars for any horse that can either kick or run away when under the influence of the Safety Brid e and Lines. W. 1/ : _ u Seigfrled,:f'astor . of Twelfth Gentlemen:—l have recently been laboring under the distressing effects of indigestion, ac companied by a prostration of the nervous sys tem. Numerous remedies were recommended by friends, and some of them tested, but with out relief. Your Hoofland's Lerman Bitters were recommended by persons who had tried them, and whose favorable mention of these Bitters induced me to try them. I must con fess that I nad an aversion to Patent Medicines from the "thousand and one" quack "Bit ters," whose only aim seems to be to palm off sweetened and drugged liquor upon tha com munity in a sly way, and the tendency of which, I fear, is to make many a confirmed drunkard. Upoia learning that yours was really a. medicinal preparation I took it with happy effect. Its action, not only upon the stomach, but upon the nervous system, was prompt and gratifying. I feel that I have de rived great and permanent benefit from the use of a few bottles. From the Rev. E. D. Fendall Chrinliun . i . :lJ — io I'll la delp fa. I have derived decided beneflt from the use of Hoolittorl's German Bitters, and feel it my privilege to recommend them as a most valua ble tonic, to all who are suffering from gen eral oebility or from diseases arising from de rangement of the liver. Yours truly, F E. D. ENDALL. From Rev. D. Baptist Churches. Having used in my family a number of bot tles of your Hootland's German Bitters, i have to say that I regard them as an excellent med icine, specially adapted to remove the di-eases they are recommended for. They strengthen and invigorate the system when debilitated, and are useful in disorders of the liver, loss of app, rite, am. I have also recorn mended them to several of my friends, who have tried them, and found them greatly beneficial in the resto ration of health. J. formerly of the North Baptist Church, Philadelphia, at pre sent Pastor of the Baptist Church, Chester, Pa. I have known Hoofland's German Bitters favorably for a number of years' I have used them in my own family, and have been so pleased with th it effects, that I was Induced to recommend them to many others, and know that they nave operated In a strikingly benefi cial manner. I take great pleasure in thus publicly proclaiming this fact, and calling the attention of those of with the diseases Mr which they are recommended, to these Bitters, knowing limn experience that my recommen dation will be sustained. Ido this more cheer full as Hnotland's Bitters is Intended to benefit the afflicted, and is " not a ruin drink." Yours, truly, LE'c - I. G. BECK. • • • • • From Rev. J. Newton Brown, D. D., Editor of the Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge and Christian Chronicle, Philadeiphi . Although not disposed to favor or recom mend Patent Medicines in general, through distrust of their ingredients and effects, I yet know of no sufficient reasons why a man may not testify to the b-netits he believes himself to have received from any simple preparation, to the hope that he may thus contribute to the benefit of others. _ - I do this the more readily in regard to Hoof land's German Bitters, prepared by Dr. C. M. Jackson, of this city, because I was prejudiced against them for many years, under the im pression that they were chiefly- an wcoholic mixture. I am indebted to my friend Robert Shoemaker, Esq., for the removal of this preju dice by proper tests and for encouragement, I o try them when suffering fromreat and long tree continued debility. The use of bottles of these Bitters at the beginning of the present year, was followed by evident relief and restor ation to a degree of bodily and mental vigor which I had not felt for six months before, and had almost despaired of regaining. I therefore thank God and my friend directing me to the nse of them. J. NEWTON BROWN Philadelphia. From the Rev. Thos. Winter, D. D., Pastor of Roxborough Baptist Church. This is an article of Wine from the Pure Port Grape T alce, fermented, without the addition of sp'.,ts of any liquors whatever. Has a full body, rich flavor, and slightly stimulating.— None is disposed of until four yearn old. All who try it express their surprise that so delicious a Wine is produced in this country, and that it is so far different from what they had expected. Some who knew nothing further of the Wine then seeing it advertised, thought at first it was a humbug, not knowing it was pure grape Juice, nave found out their mistake, and now lay their lives to the use of this Wine.
