Juitr Taint rati.4Bso-60.-The'reffi cial tableti-Or the foreigh'trade of the- United Statei for the fiscal yearlBs9-60; Whioh ended on the 30th of June last, show that the total . - exportaof the country exceeded the enormous aggregate of four hundred millions of dollars, while the total imports fell about thirty eight millions short of that sum. The figures are: Exports, $400167,461 Imports, - 861.797.209 Batistes in foyer of the United $38,37c.,252 - The exports classified are - be follows: American produce (exclusive of speele,) $316.220,610 Specie. 56.946.851. Foreign produce re-exported, 27.003,00(1 Total exports, U 00,167,461 A further classification by articles gives the following results: Cotton, Vegetable food, • Animal food, hides and wool, Manufactures, Tobaceo Produce of the forest, Specie, Oar export of cotton, it will be noticed, is equal to nearly one-half of our total exporta tions ; cotton and tobacco together more than one-half. The total exports of 1858-9 amounted to $356,789,462, and the imports to $338,768,130. The specie exported in 1858-9 amounted to $63,887,411, and in 1859-60 to only $56,946,. 851. The export of foreign produce during the year 1859-60 is the largest export of the kind on record, the next heaviest being that of 1855, when the country exported $26,158,368 of foreign produce. It appears that while our export of domestic produce has gone on steadily increasing from year to year, until in 1859-60 it is more than double what it was in 1852, our export of specie has not varied much since 1855. Esti. mates are commonly made of an annual yield of $65,000,000, which, if correct, would go to show that we retain from $8,000,000 to $lO,- 000,000 of gold every year in the country. It also appears that the commerce of the United States has doubled within the past ten years, which is more than can be said of the trade of 'any other country;:even of England and France, largely as their trade has in— creased of late years. It may be further remarked that, whereas, before 1855, the years trade always showed a balance against the United States, ever since 1855 our exports have been in excess of our imports; and that excess has been steadily progressive, from $12,000,000 in 1855 to $38,000,000 in 1860. GUBERNATORIAL The Philadelphia Evening Journal, the leading Bell and Everett paper in this State, contains the following : TUE GUBERNATORIAL CONTEST.—We have hitherto said nothing respecting the contest fur the Chief Magistracy of Pennsylvania. The Constitutional Union party, led by Bell and Everett, and with which we are acting, have no candidate in the field fur that office, and may or may not nominate one, as the gentlemen to whom that matter is referred shall hereafter determine. But we are not so committed to any party organization or party interest, as to keep silent, or to maintain a politic neutrality, when a pure, upright, patri otic, and eminently honest and honorable citizen of Pennsylvania, is assailed in partizan newspapers, whose sense of decency and justice is utterly overborne by a sordid and demoralized disposition to denounce, with coarse and mendacious detraction, every indi vidual and party not in sympathy and affiliation with " Republicanism." The North American, which, in unworthy emulation of the lowest political sheets, has recently dis graced its columns with vile vulgarity and malignancy of personal abuse and brazen mendacity, is assailing Mr. Foster as no dig nified and honorable journal would assault a pickpocket; and as the war seems to be made on this gentleman, without gloves, we shall not only defend him -against such shameless and unprincipled attacks, but shall discuss the public charaoter of the gentleman who is opposed to him, with that e inJor and freedom which facts and our duty to the public welfare demand at our hands. [sap 4 em 34 :dyer's Sarsaparilla A compound remedy, in which we have la bored to produce the mast effectual last:alive that can be made. It is a concentrated extract of Para Sarsaparilla, so Combined with other substances of still greater alterative power as to afford an effective antidote for the diseases Sarsaparilla is reputed to cure. It is belieied that such a remedy is wanted by those who suffer from Strumous complaints, and that one which will accomplish their cure must - prove of immense service to this large clam of oar afflicted fellow-citizens. How completely this compound will do it has been proven by exper iment on many of the worst cases to be finind of the following complaints:— - SCROFULA AND Scraminus COMPLAINTS, ERUPTIONS AND ER y rva Dreusam, 'nous, PIMPLES, BLOTCHES, TUICOEf3, SALT 111031714 SCALD HEAD, SYPHILIS AND SYPEILTITO Av pEcriors, Miumunut. Dreams, lukoney, Nan nerali. ou Tic DOULOVREUX, Dasurry, Bre- PEPSI& AND lumorarrox, F.s.ratenzas, Rosa on Sr. Armor:lee Fran, and indeed the whole elass -of complaints arising from Imemurr THE BLOOD. This compound will be found a great pr:). rooter of health, when taken in the spring, to expel the foul humors which fester in the blood at that season of the year. By the time ly expulsion of them many•rankling disorders are nipped in the bud. Multitudes can, by the aid this remedy, spare themselves from the endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerous sores, through which the system will strive to rid itself of corruptions, if not assisted to do this through the natural channels of . the body by a& alterative medicine. Cleanse out the vitiated blood whenever you find its impurities bursting through the skin in pimples, eruptions, or sores ; cleanse it when you find it is 'ob structed and sluggish in the veins ; cleanse it whenever it is foul, and your feelings will tell you when. Even where no particular disorder is felt, people enjoy better health, and live longer, for cleansing the blood. Keep the blood healthy, and all is well; but with this pabulum of life -, disordered, there can be no lasting health. Sooner or later something must go wrong, and the great machinery of life is disordered or overthrown. Sarsaparilla has, and deserves much, the reputation, of accomplishing these ends. But the world has been egregiously deceived by preparations of it, partly because the drug alone has not all the virtue that is claimed for it, but more because many preparations, pretending to be concentrated extracts of it, contain but little of the virtue of Sarsaparilla, or any thing else. During late years the public have been mis led by large bottles, pretending to give a quart of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dollar. Most of these have been frauds upon the sick, for they not only contain little, if any, Sarsapa rilla, but often no curative properties whatev er. Hence, bitter and painful disappointment has followed the use of the various extracts of Sarsaparilla which flood the market, until the name itself is justly despised, and has become synonymous with imposition and cheat. Still we call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend to supply such a remedy as shall rescue the name from the load of obloquy which rests upon it. And we think we have ground for believing it has virtues which are irresistible by the ordinary run of the diseases it is intend ed to cure. In order to secure their complete eradication from the system, the remedy should be judiciously taken according to directions on the bottle. DR. J. C. AYER & CO. C LOWELL, MASS.
