ORNAMENTAL BRANCRES While it is well and proper that Young Ladles and Gentlemen should be taught Music, Drawing, Painting, Pc., it is at the same time highly cul pable, to neglect for these Branches, the practical and useful studies, which determine the intellectual status of an individual. Thonaands of Young Ladies learn a little French, a little Music, Pc., being ignorant of the plainest principles of Grammar and Mathematics. An Education is an injury rather than a benefit, if the mind be not trained in the right way. Acquire first, if possible, the solid Branches, and then the mind will be prepared for the Fine Arts. Music—Vocal and Instrumental—Pipo, Violin, kc. In the department of Languages, the classes are practised in oral and written exercises; and particular attention is given to the pronunciation of the Language the student may be acquifing. Ladies can substitute Music for some other bmnches, if they desire it.. The classes in Mensuration, Surveying, and Leveling, are practised in the use of the Quadrant, in Plotting, and in other Instruments. Particular attention will be given to the analyzing of Milton's Paradise Lost, which is used as a Book of Pars ing exercises. A Normal Class will be formed, and special instruction devoted to the Theory and Practice of Teaching; and thus affording all the advantages that can be given in any Nor mal School; for the great requisites of a Teacher are to ' have the qualifications, be able to discipline a school, and be skilful in imparting instruction. Some eight years ago one of my daughters seemed to be in a decline, and little hopes of her recovery were entertained. l then procured a bottle of )..eur ex cellent Balsam, and before she had taken the whole of the contents of the bottle there was a great iMPT o Vement in her health. I have, in my individual case, made frequent use of your valuable medicine, and have always been benefited by it. I mould, however, caution the public a ainst imposition, because there is a good deal of spurious Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry afloat throuffhout the country. THE GREATEST MEDICAL DISCOV.• ERY OF THE AGE.—Dr. KENNEDY, of Roxbury, has discovered, in one of our common pasture weeds, a remedy that cures EVERY KIND OF HUMOR, from the worst Scrofula down to a common pimple. He has tried It In over 1100 canes, and never failed except in two cases, (both thunder humor.) He has now in ble possession over two hundred certificates of its virtue, all Within twenty miles of Boston. Two bottles are warranted to cure a nursing sore month One to three bottles will cure the worst kind of Pimples 'on the face. Two to three bottles will clear the system of Hiles Two bottles are warranted to cure the worst canker in the mouth or stomach. Three to live bottles aro warranted to mire the worst case of Erysipelas. One or two bottles are warranted to cure all humor the Eyes. Two bottles aro warranted to cure running of the ears and blotches among the hair. Four to six bottles are warranted to cure corrupt and running ulcers. One bottle will cure scaly eruption of the skin, Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the worst cases of ring-worm. Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the most d;:ui pemte case of rheumatism. Three to four bottles are warranted to cure the salt rheum. Five to eight bottles will cure the worst case of scrofula! A benefit fs always experienced from the first tattle, and a perfect cure is warranted when the above quantity is taken. Reader, I peddled over a thousand bottles of this in the vicinity of Boston. I know the offeet of it in every case.— So sure as water will extinguish Are, so sure will this cure humor. I never sold a bottle of it, but that sold another; after a trial it always speaks for itself. There are two things about this herb that appear surprising; first, that it grows in our %pastures, in some places quite plentiful, and yet Its value has never been known until I discovered it in 18411—second, that it should cure all kinds of humor, In order to give some idea of the sudden rise, and grea t popularity of the discovery, I will state that in April, 1853. I peddled it and sold about six bottles per day—in April, 1854, I sold over one thousand bottles per day of it. Some of the wholesale Druggists who have been in the business twenty and thirty years, say that nothing in the annals of patent medicines was ever like it. There is a universal praise of it from all quarters. In my own practice I always kept It strictly for humors —but since its introduction as a general family medicine, great and wonderful virtues have been found in it that I never suspected, Several cases of epileptio fits—a disease which was alviays considered incurable, have boon cured by a few bottlea 0, what a mercy if It prove effectual in all cases of that awful malady—there aro but few who have seen more of It than I have. I know of several cases of Dropsy, all of them aged peo ple, cured by it. Nor the various diseases of the Liver, Sick Headache, Dyspepsia, Asthma, Fever and Ague, pain in the side, Diseases of the Spine, and particularly in diseases of the Kidneys, etc, the discovery has done more good than any medicine ever known. No change of diet ever necessary—eat the beet you get and enough of it. Diazerioss von Deg.—Adults one table spoonful per day —Children over ten years dessert spoonful. Children from five to eight years tea spoonful. ♦s no directions can be applicable to all constitutions, take sufficient to operate on the bowels twice a day.
