I have Irequent occasion to use one; and I am so delighted with the two volumes we have that I must ash too to allow me the relief of saying very sim ply, what I find them—that is, the very beat Cyclopedia for practical use ever published. I have some knowledge of all in our own language and a few of those of the conti nent of Europe. The best and largest of these surpass this of Appleton’s in the extent to which they carry out special dissertations. Bnt this Cyclopedia is full of the best mat ter. By skillful selection and compression, and sedulous avoidance of mere show and verbiage, room is foand for an immense amount of the latest information, put forth clear ly, carefully and accurately. The book embodies, and ade quately represents, the ability and knowledge available at this day for a work of the kind. “ Its merit and extreme cheapness must place it eventu ally In every library. Sworn statement of David M’Creury. of Napier town ship, Bedford county: In April, 1856, as near as I can remember, a small pim- 1 pie made its appearance on my upper lip, which soon be came enlarged and sore. I used poultices of sorrel, and a wash of blue vitriol, without effect. Finding the sore ex* * tending, I called on Dr. Ely. of Schellsburg, who pr> nouoced it CANCER, and prescribed a wash of sugar of lead and bread poultices. Finding these remedies of no avail, I called upon Dr. Shaffer, of Davidsville, Somerset county, who also pronounced the disease Cancer, me internal and external remedies—the latter consisting principally of caustic; but all to no purpose, as the dls* ease continued spreading toward the nose. I next used a preparation of arsenic, in the - form of salve. This for a time checked the disease, but the inflammation soon in creased. I next called upon Dr. Statler, of St. Clalrsville, Bedford connty, who also pronounced the disease Cancer, and applied a salve said to be a never-failing remedy, but it no effect whatever in checking the spread of the sore. Id December, of the same year, the disease had eaten away a greater part of my upper lip, and had at* tacked the nose, when I went to Cincinnati, where I con sulted Prof. R. 9. Newton, of the Eclectic Medical College. He pronounced the disease “ a cutaneous Cancer, super induced by an inordinate use of mercury.” He applied mild zinc ointment, and gave me internal remedies. My face healed up. but the inflammation was not thoroughly remoyed. In February, 1857, he pronounced me cured, and I left for borne, jp April the disease again returned, and so violent was tfae pain that I could not resf; atnigotl Late in May I returned’ to Cincinnati, and again placed myself under the charge of Dr. Newton, with whom 1 re mained until September, during which time he. used every known remedy, and partly succeeded in checking the die ease, but when I returned home there were still three die charging ulcers upon my face. I continued using New ton’s preparations, and also medicine that I got from Dr. Ely, but the Canoer continued growing until it had eat off the left tide, of my nose , the greater portion of my left cheek , and had attacked my left eye. I had given up all hope of ever being cored, since Dr. Ely said he coaid only give relief, but that a cure was impossible. In March, 1858, I bought a bottle of “Blood Searcher;” bat I mast confess that I had no faith in it. I was very weak when I com menced taking it; but I found that I gained strength day by day, and also that the ulcers commenced drying up. I continued, and when the third bottle was taken my face was healed as if by a miracle. I used a fourth bottle, and I have been healthier since tbah I have been for the last seven years. Although my face Is sadly disfigured, lam still grateful to a benign Providence who has spared my life, and which h*« been done throngh the instrumentality of Uwd3et’B Improved Blood Searched. __ DAVID M’CREARY. QF HUMO%, the worst Scrofula down to a common pimpjo. He has tried it in over 1100 cases, ami uover failed excppt in two cases, (both thunder humor.) He has nowin his possession over two hundred certificates of its virtue, all within twenty miles of Boston. Two bottles are warranted to cure a nursing sore mouth One to three bottles will cure the worst kind of Pimples on the face. Two to three bottle* will clear the system of Bile*. Two bottles are warranted to cure the worst canker ip the mouth or stomach. Three to five bottles are warranted to cure the worst uas« of Erysipelas. One or two bottles are warranted to cure all humorln the Eyes. Two bottles are warranted to cure running of the ear* and blotches among il>- hair. Four to six bottles are warranted to care corrupt and running ulcers. ' One bottle will cure scaly eruption of the skin. Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the worst cases of ringworm. Two to three bottles are warranted to oqre the most des perate case of rheumatism. Three to four bottles are warranted to cure tho salt rheum. Five to eight bottles will cure the worst case of scrofula A benefit Is always experienced from the first bottle, and a perfect cure is warranted when the above quantity Is taken. Reader, I peddled over a thousand bottles of this In thp vicinity of Boston. I know the effect of It in every case.-?- So sure as water will extinguish flro, so sure will this cure humor. I never sold a bottle of It, but that sold another; after a trial it always speaks for itself. There are two things about this herb that appear surprising; first, that It grows in our pastures, in some places quite plentiful, and yet its valne has nover been known until I discovered it iu 1846—second, that it should cure all kinds of humor In order to give some idea of the sadden rise, and great popularity of the discovery, I will state that in April, 1863, 1 peddled it and sold about six bottles per day—in April, 1854,1 sold over one thousand bottles por day of It. Some of the wholesale Druggists who have been in the business twenty and thirty years, say that nothing in the annals of patent medicines was ever like it. There is a universal praise of it from all quarters. In my own practice I always kept It strictly for humors —but since its introduction as a general family medicine, great and wonderful virtues bavb been found in it that I never suspected. i Several cases of epileptic fits—a disease which was always ! considered incurable, have been cured by a few bottles.— | 0, what a mercy if it prove effectual In all cases of that awful malady—there aro but few who have seen more of it than I have. I know of several cases of Dropsy, all of them aged peo ple, cured by it. For the various diseases of the Liver, hick Headache, Dyspepsia. Asthma, Fever and Ague, pale in the 6ide, Diseases of the Spine, and particularly in diseases of the Kidneys, Ac., the discovery has done more good than any medicine ever known. No change of diet ever necessary—eat the best you get and « cough of It. Directions for Use.—Adults one table spoonful per day —Children over ten years dessert spoonful. Children from five to eight years tea spoonful. As no directions can be applicable to all constitutions, take sufficient to operate on the bowels twice a day.
