HAVE YOU TRIBDIT.—This important question should be asked every invalid who is suffering from pulmonary troubles in this fickle climate. Have you tried WILBOR'S COMPOUND OF COD LIVER OIL AND LIME? It will not-nauseate like the plain Oil; but is on the contrary, pleasant to the taste; moreover the Phosphate of Limo is, in this combination, a most remarkable aid to the healing es of the pure Cod Liver Oil, as the following cer tificatest (selected from a host of like great acknowledg mutts) will amply sliow. No person should neglect for a single hour a conghou any affection of the lungs, lest the moatserious consequences follow. Dr._Wilbor's prepara tion is both simple, and sure in all ordinary cases, and has performed some surprising cures in decided consump- Hon, where other medical aid has failed : Dr. Wllbor :—Dnring nearly the whole of the put win ter, I had suffered seriously with a cough, which so irrita ted my lungs, that my physician frankly admitted his fear of consumption's following this trouble as the Spring weather set in. Medicine seemed to afford ma little relief until I tried your preparation of Cod Liver ()Wand Lime. The effect I am forced by facts to admit, was almost magi cal, and I have the pleasure of saying at this writing, (Ma? 2d, 1852) I am entirely free from any pulmonary trouble. With thanks to you for your valuable discovery, I cordi ally recommend it to those who are thus afflicted: r MARTIN C. HURD, Chamber street, Boston. N. I know the effect of it in every case.— So sure as water will extinguish fire, so sure will this cure humor. I never sold a bottle of it, but that sold an other; after a trial It always speak for Wait There are two things about this herb that appear to me surprising; first that it grows In our pastures, in some places quite plentiful, and yet its value has never been known until I discovered it in 1841 second that It should mire all kinds of humor. In order to give some idea of the sudden rise, and groat popularity of the discovery. I will state that In April, 1853, I peddled it and sold about six bottles per day—ln April, 1854, I sold over one thousand bottles per day of it! Some of the wholesale Druggirts who have been in the business twenty and thirty years, say that nothing in the annals of patent medicines was ever like It. There Is a universal praise of it from all quarters. Long. april 24 ly-l4 MIAILRE LANDS FOIL SALE.—THE TiV.TNOIS I CENTRAL ILILLBOAD,COMPANY is now prepared to sell over TWO MILLION of ACRES OF FARMING LANDS, In Tracts of 40 ACRES and upwards, on long credits and at low rates of interest. These lands were granted by the Government, to aid in the construction of this Railroad, and include Borne of the ' richest and most fertile Prairies in the State, interspersed here and there with magnificent groves of oak and other timber. The Road extends from Chicago, on the North East, to Cairo at the South, and from thence to Galena and Dunleith, in the North West extreme of the State, and as all the lands lie within fifteen miles on each aide of this Road, ready and cheap means are afforded by it for trans porting the products of the lands to any of those points and from thence t.q Eastern and Southern markets. Moreover, the rapid grOTzth of flourishing towns and villages along the line, and the great increase in population by immigra tion, etc., afford a substantial and growing home demand for farm produce. The soil is a dark, rich mould, from one to five feet in depth, is gently rolling and peculiarly fitted for grazing cattle and sheep, or the cultivation of wheat, Indian corn, etc. Economy in cultivating and great productiveness are the well known characteristics of Illinois land. Trees are not required to be cut down, stumps grubbed, or stoneepicked off, as is generally the case in cultivating new land in the older States. The first crop of Indian corn, planted on the newly broken sod, usually repays the cost of plowing and fencing. Wheat sown on the new turned soil is sure - to yield very large profits. A man with a plow and two yoke of oxen will break one and a half to two acres per day. Contracts can be made for breaking, rdady for corn or wheat, at from $2 to' ,50 per acre. By judicious management, the land may be plowed and fenced the first, and under a high state of cultivation the second year. Corn, grain, cattle, etc. ' will be forwarded at reasonable rates to Chicago, for the Eastern market, and to Cairo for the Southern. he larger yield on the cheap lands of Illi nois over the high priced lands in the Eastern and Middle States is known to be much more than sufficient to pay the difference of transportation to the Eastern market. Bituminous coal is mined at several points along the Road, and is a cheap and desirable fuel. It can be delivered at several points along the Road at $1,50 to 4,00 per ton. Wood can be had at the same rates per cord. Those who think of settling in lowa or Minnesota, should bear in mind, that lands there, of any value, along the wa ter courses and for many miles inland, have been disposed of,—that for those located in the interior, there are no con veniences for transporting the produce to market, Railroads not having been introduced there. That to send the pro duce of Grebe lands, one or two hundred miles by wagon to market, would cost much more than the expense of culti vating them; and hence, Government lands thus situated, at $1,25 per acre, are not so good investments as the land of this company at the prices fixed. The same remarks hold good in relation to the lands in Kansas and Nebraska, for although vacant lands may be found nearer the water courses, the distance to market is far greater, and every hundred miles the produce of those • lands are arried either in wagons, or interrupted water communications, increases the expenses of transportation, which must be borne by the settlers, in the reduced price of their products; and to that extent precisely are the incomes from their farms, and of course ou.stheir investments, an nually and every year reduced. The great fertility of the lands now offered for sale by this company, and their consequent yield over those of the Eas tern and Middle States, is much more than sufficient to pay the difference in the cost of transportation, especially in view of the facilities furnished by the Road, and others with which it connects, the operations of which are not in terrupted by. the low water of summer, or the frost of win ter. PRICE AND TERMS OF PAYMENT.—The price will va ry from $5 to 25 according to location, etc. Contracts for Deeds may be made during the year, 1556„ stipulating the ' purchase money to be paid in five annual instalments. The first to become due in two years from the date of contract, and the others annually thereafter. The last payment will become due at the end of the sixth year from the date of the contract. Interest will be charged at only three per cent. per an num. As a security to the performance of the contract, the first two years' interest must be paid in advance, and it must be understood that at least one tenth of the land pur chased shall yearly be brought under cultivation. Twenty per cent. from the credit price will be deducted for cash.— The Company's construction bonds will be received as cash. Ready framed Farm Buildings, which can be sot up in a few days, can be obtained from responsible persons. They will be 12 feet by 20 feet, divided into one living and three bed rooms, and will cost complete set up on ground chosen anywhere along the Road, $l5O in cash, exclusive of transportation. Larger buildings may be contracted for at proportionate rates. The Company will forward all the ma terials for.such buildings over their road promptly. Special arrangements with dealers can be made to supply those purchasing the Company's lands with fencing mate. rials, agricultural tools, and an outfit of provisions in any quantity, at the lowest wholesale prices. It is believed that the price, long credit, and low rate of interest, charged for these lands, will enable a man with o few hundred dollars in cash and ordinary industry, to make himself independent before all the purchase money becomes due. In the mean time, the rapid settlement of the ceun try will probably have increased their value four or five fold. When required an experieenced person will accompany ap plicants, to give information and aid in selecting lands. Circulars, containing numerous instances of successful farming, signed by respectable and well known farmers liv ing in the neigfiborhood of the Railroad lands, throughout the State—also the cost of fencing, price of cattle, expense of harvesting, threshing, etc., by contract—or any other In formation—will be cheerfully given, on application, either personally or by letter, in English, French, or German, Wl dressed to JOHN WILSON, Land Corrunissibner of the Illinois Central It. July 29 Bt 28 CATHARTIC PILLS OPERATE by their powerful influence on the internal viscera to purify the blood and stimu late it into healthy action. They remove the obstructions of the stomach, bowels, liver, and other organs of the body, and, by restoring their irregular action to health, correct, wherever they exist, such derangements as are the first causes of disease. An extensive trial of their virtues, by Professors, Physicians, and Patients, has shown cures of dan gerous diseases almost beyond belief, were they not substantiated by persons of such exalted position and character as to forbid the suspicion of untruth. Their certificates are published in my American Almanac, which the Agents below named are pleased to furnish free to all inquiring. Annexed we give Directions for their use in the complaints which they have been found to cure. • Fon COSTIVENESS.—Take one or two Pills, or such quantity as to gently move the bowels. Cos tiveness is frequently the aggravating cause of PILES, and the cure of one complaint is the cure of both. No person can feel well while under a costive habit of body. Hence it should be, as it can be, promptly relieved. Fon DYSPEPSIA, which is sometimes the cause of Costiveness, and always uncomfortable, take mild doses from one to four to stimulate the stomach and liver into healthy action. They willdo it, and the heartburn, bodyburn, and soulburn of dyspepsia will rapidly disappear. When it has gone, don't forget what cured you. Fora FOUL STOMACH, or Morbid Inaction of the Bowels, which produces general depression of the spirits and bad health, take from four to eight Pills at first, and smaller doses afterwards, until activity and strength is restored to the system. FOR NERVOUSNESS, SICK HEADACHE, NAUSEA, Pain in the Stomach, Back, or Side, take from four to eight pills on going to bed. If they do not oper ate sufficiently, take more the next day until they do. These complaints will be swept out from the system. Don't wear these and their kindred dis orders because your stomach is foul. FOR SCROFULA, ERYSIPELAS, and all Diseases of the Skin, take the Pills freely and frequently, to keep the bowels open. The eruptions will gener ally soon begin to diminish and disappear. Many dreadful ulcers and sores have been healed up by the purging and purifying effect of these Pills, and some disgusting diseases which seemed to saturate the whole system have completely yielded to their influence, leaving the sufferer in perfect health Patients! your duty to society forbids that you should parade yourself around the world covered with pimples, blotches, ulcers, sores, and all or any of the unclean diseases of the skin, because your system wants cleansing. To Pun= THE BLOOD, they are the best medi cine ever discovered. They should be taken freely and frequently, and the impurities which sow the seeds of incurable diseases will be swept out of the system like chaff before the wind. By this property they do as much good in preventing sickness as by the remarkable cures which they are making every where. Liven COMPLAINT, JAUNDICE, and all Bilious Affections, arise from some derangement either torpidity, congestion, or obstructions of the Liver. Torpidity and congestion vitiate the bile and render it unfit for digestion. This is disastrous to the health, and the constitution is frequently under mined by no other cause. Indigestion is the symp tom. Obstruction of the duct which empties the bile into the stomach causes the bile to overflow into the blood. This produces Jaundice, with a long and dangerous train of evils. Costiveness or alternately costiveness and diarrhoea , prevails. Feverish symptoms, languor, low spirits, weariness, restlessness, and melancholy, with sometimes in ability to sleep, and sometimes great drowsiness; sometimes there is severe pain in the side ; the ski and the white of the eyes become a greenish yellow ; the stomach acid; the bowels sore to the touch ; the whole system irritable, with a tendency to fever, which may turn to bilious fever, bilious colic, bilious diarrhoea, dysentery, &c. A medium dose of three or four Pills taken at night, followed by two or three in the morningand repeated a few days, will remove the cause of all r these troubles. It is wicked to suffer such pains when you can cure them for 25 cents. REETTMAIIB3I, (71.013 T, and all Inflammatory Fe vers, are rapidly cured by the purifying effects of these Pills upon the blood and the stimulus which they afford to the vital Rrincipal of Life. For these and all kindred complaints they should be taken in mild doses, to move the bowels gently, but freely. As a Drtrtrpm. PILL, this is both agreeable and useful. No Pill can be made more pleasant to take, and certainly none has seen made.more effectual to the purpose for which a dinner pill is employed. PREPARED BY' DR. J. C. Phila. war 18 1y.9 TONICS WON'T DO 2—They never did du more than give temporary relief and they never will. It is because they don't touch the cause of the disease. The cause of all ague and billions diseases Is the atmospheric poison called Miasma or Malaria. Neutralize this poison by its Natural Antidote, and all disease caused by it disap pears at once. Rhodes' Fever and Ague Cure is this Anti dote to Malaria, and moreover it is a perfectly harmless medicine. The certificate of the Celebrated chemist, J. R. Chilton, of Now York, to this effect, is attached to every bottle; therefore if It does no good It can do no harm. This is more than can be wild of Quinine, Arsenic, orgny tonic in existence, RE their use is ruinous to the constitu • lion and brings on Dumb Ague, , which never allows a per son to feel perfectly well for a single moment. In Illustra tion of these truths I annex some extracts from a letter just received from a Physician Oconozrowa, Ohio. March 16, 1556. JAS. A. 11110 DES, Esq.—Dear Sir: Yours of Id' inst. is at hand. The Cure arrived late last year and the difficulty in getting any one to try it was greatly increased from the the fact that a remedy had been introduced which was growing in favor with the public. as being better than using Quinine,—not knowing I presume that the remedy they used to escape taking Quinine, contained the Drug Itself This remedy, (known as "Smith'siTonie,") would Invari lily break an Ague, but it did not mire it, as it would often return with renewed vigor. This one circumstance I deem ed in your favor, if I could institute a test comparison be tween it and your cure. The following Is the result: Three persons twit your "Cure," all of which wore cases of"Quotidtaalettermittent Fever," of mnayweeka standing They had tried Quinine, and other remedies, occasionally missing a chill, but it was, (as in all such cazas,). slowly wearing them out, and laying the foundation far other and severer maladies. I did succeed in effecting a radical cure of all three of these cases with your remedy, and they have not had a chill since. In all three of thews cases the "Smith's Tonic" had been used, and would, as hotbre sta ted, break the chill, but after a period or two had elapsed would return. I think there will be no difficulty now in giving to your "Cure" the advantage ground of any other remedy now in use here, & &c. WILLIAM BUCKNER, bf. D. Ithode's Fever and Ague Cure or Antidote to Malaria, the only harmless remedy In existence, is equalliccertain as a preventive, as a "Cure." Take it when you feel the chills coming, and you will never have a single one. JAS. A. RHODES, Providence. It. I. For Sale by C.
