COMPANY is now prepared to sell over TWO MILLION of ACRES OF FARMING LANDS, In Tracts of 40 ACRES and upwards, on long credits and at low rates of interest. These lands were granted by the Government, to aid in the construction of this Railroad, and include 1501320 of the richest and most fertile Prairies in the State, Interspersed here and there with magnificent groves of oak and other timber. The Road extends from Chithgo, on the North East, to Cairo at the South, and from thence to Galena dud Dunleith, in the North West extreme of the State, and as all the lands lie within fifteen miles on each aide of this Road, toady and cheap means aro afforded by it for trans porting the products of the lands to any of tkose points and from thence to Eastern and Southern markets. Moreover, the rapid growth of flourishing towns and villages along the line, and the great increase In population by immigra tion, etc., afford a substantial and growing home demand fur farm produce. The soil is a dark, rich mould, from one to five feet in depth, is gently rolling and peculiarly fitted for gracing cattle and sheep, or the cultivation of wheat, Indian corn, etc. Economy in cultivating and great productiveness are thS well known characteristics of Illinois land. Trees are not required to be cut.down, stumps grubbed, or stones picked off, as Is generally the case in cultivating new land in the filthy States. The flret crop of Indian corn, planted on the newly broken sod, usually repays the coot of plowing and fencing. Wheat sown on the new turned soil ill sure to yield very largo profits. A man with a plow and two yoke of oxen will break one and a half to two acres per day. Contracts can be made for breaking, ready for corn or wheat, at from z`2 to 2,50 per acre. By judicious management, the laud may be plowed and fenced the first, and under a high state of cultivation the second year. Corn, grain, cattle, etc. ' will be forwarded at reasonable rates to Chicago, for thu Eastern market, and to Cairo fur tile Southern. The larger yield on the cheap lands of Illi nois over the high priced lauds In the Eastern and Middle States, is known to to much more than sufficient to pay the difference of trensportatlon,to the Eastern market. Bituminous coal is mined at several points along tile (toad, and Is a cheap and desirable fuel. It can be delivered at several points along the Road at AGO to 4010 per tn. Wood can lee had at thu same rates per cord. Thum who think of settling in lowa ur Miunotiont ' should bear in mind; that lambs there, of any value, along the wa ter courses and for many tulles Inland, have boon disposed uf,—that fur those locatod in the interior, there ere no con veniences fur transporting the produce to market, Railroads nut having been introduced there. That to send the pro. deco of these lands, out or two hundred miles by wagon to market, would cost much more than the expense of culti voting them; and hence, tioveruumut hula thus situated, at 11,25 per acre, are nut so good Investments no the land ,d this company at the prices fixell. The same remarks hold good in relation to the lands in &Mae and Nebraska, tor although vacant lands any be found nearer the water mums, the distance to market ie far greater, and every hundred miles the produce ut' those lauds are carried either iu wagons, or Interrupted water communications, increases thu expenses of transportation, which must be borne by the settlers, in the reduced price of their products; and to that extent precisely are the incomes from their farms, and of course on their iLVeiittlielltS, an nually and every year reduced. The great fertility of the lands nose offered ffirsale by this company, and their consequent yield over those of the Eas tern and Middle States, is much wore then sufficient to pay the difference in the rust of transportation, especially ill view of the facilities furnished by the Road, and others with which it connects, the operations of which are not in .terrupted by the low water of bummer, ur the treat of win ter. PRICE .IND TERMS OF PAYMENT.—The price will va ry from $5 to 25, according to location, etc. Contracts fur Deeds may be made during the year, - Me,. stipulating the purchase money to be paid in live annual Instalments. The first to become due in two years from the date of contract, and the others annually thereafter. The last payment will become due at the end of the sixth year trout the date of the contract. Interest will be charged at only three per cent. per an num. As a security to the performance of the contract, the first two years' interest must be paid in advance, and It must be understood that at least one tenth of the land pur chased shall yearly L. brought under cultivation. Twenty per cent. from the credit price will be deducted for cash.— The Company's construction bonds will be received as cash. Ready framed Farm Buildings, which can be set up in a few days, can be obtained from responsible persona. They will be 12 feet by 20 feet, divided into one living and three bed rooms, and will cost complete set up on ground chosen anywhere along the Road, $l5O in cash, exclusive of transportation. Larger buildings may be contracted for at proportionate rates. The Company will forward all the ma terials for ouch buildings over their road promptly. Special arrangements with dealers can be made to supply three purchasing the Company's lands with fencing mate rials, agricultural tools, and an outfit of provisions in any quantity, at the lowest wholesale prices. - It is believed that the price, long credit, and low rate of Interest, charged fur these lauds, will enable a map with o few hundred dollars iu cash and ordinary industry, to make himself independent before all the purchase money becomes due. In the mean time, the rapid settlement of the coun try will probably have increased their value four or five fold. When required an oxperieenced person will accompany ap plicants, to give information and aid in selecting lauds. Circulars, containing numerous instances of successful farming, signed by respectable and welt known farmers liv ing in the neighborhood of the Railroad lauds, throughout the State—also the cost of fencing, price of cattle, expense of harvesting, threshing, etc., by contract—or any other in formation—will be cheerfully given, on application, either " personally or by letter,nu English, French, or German, ad dressed to JOIIk WILSON, Land Commissioner of the Illinois Central It. B. STEVENS, N. D., of Went• worth, S. 11., writes: Having used your Csrtisarte PILLS in my practice, I certify from experience that they are en invaluable purge.. tire. In rases 111 disordered functions of the liver, causing headache, indigestion, costiveness, and the great variety of disPZ.es that follow, they are a surer remedy than any oCher. In all cases where a purgative remedy is required, I confidently recommend these Pills to the public, as superior to any other I have ever found. They are sure in their operation, and perfectly safe—qualities which make them an invaluable article for public use. I have for tatany years known your Cherry Pectoral 8.3 the beat Cough medicine in the world ; and these Pills are In no :vise inferior to that admirable preparation for the treat ment of diseases." "Acton, Ale. , Non. 25, 1853. 6' Dn..J. C. AYER— Dear Sir: I have been afflicted from my birth with scrofula in its worst form, and now, after twenty years' trial, and an untold of amount of suffering, have been completely cured in a few weeks by your Pills. With what feelings of rejoicing I write can only be imagined when you realize-what I have suffered, and how long. " Never until now have I been free from this loathsome disease in some shape. At times it attacked my eyes, and made me almost blind, besides the unendurable pain ; at others it settled in the scalp of my bead, and desucrot raj, hair, and has kept me partly bald all my days; sometimes it carne out In my face, and kept it for months a raw sore "About nine weeks ago I commenced taking your Ca thartic Pllta, and now am entirely free from the complaint. My eyes are Well, my skin is fair, and my hair has com menced a healthy growth; all of which makes me feel already a new person. " Doping this statement may be the means of conveying information that shall do good to others, I am, with every sentiment of gratitude, Yours, Inc., MARIA RICKER." " I have known the above named Maria Ricker from her childhood, and her statement ie strictly.true. ANDREW J. MESERVE, Overseer of the Portsmouth Manufacturing Co." Can. JOEL PRATT, of the ship Marion, writes from Boston, 20th April, 1854: "Your Pills have cured me from a bilious attack which arose from derangement of the Liver s which bad become very serious. I had failed of any relief by my Physician, and from every remedy I could try ; but a few doses of your Pills have completely restored me to health. I have given them to my children for worms, with the test ef fects. They were promptly cured. 1 recommended them to a friend for costiveness, which had troubled him for months ; he told me in a few days they had' cured him. You make the best medicine in the world ; and I am free to say no." Read this from the diatingiushed Solicitor of the Supreme Court, whose brilliant abilities have made him well known, not only in this but the neighboring States. "New Onleans, sth April, 1854. "Sir: I have great satisfaction In assuring you that myself and family have been very much benefited by your medicines. My wilb was cured, two years eine°, of a se vere and dangerous cough, by your CHERRY' PECTORAL, and since then has enjoyed perfect health. Sly children have several times been cured from attacks of the Influ enza and Croup by It. It is an invaluable remedy for these complaints. Your CATHARTIC PILLS have entirely cored me from a dyspepsia and costiveness, which has grown upon me for some years,— indeed, this cure is much more important, from the fact that I had failed to get relief from the best Physicians which this section of the country affords, and from any of the numerous reme dies I had token. "You seem to us, Doctor, like a providential blessing to our family, and you may well suppose we are not un mindful of it. Yours respectfully, LEAVITT THAXTER." " Senate Chamber, Ohio, April sth, 1854. "Da. J. C. Aran— Honored Sir: I have made a thor ough trial of the CATHARTIC Plc.., left me by your agent, and have been cured by them of the dreadful Rheumatism under which be found me suffering. The first dose re lieved me, and a few subsequent doses have entirely removed the disease. I feel in better health now than for some years before, which I attribute entirely to the effects of your CATHARTIC Pmts. Yours with great respect, LUCIUS B. METCALF." Phila. mar 18 ly-9 TONICS WON'T DO I—They never did do more than give temporary relief and they never will. It Is because they don't touch the cause of the disease. The cause of all ag.ue and billions diseases is the atmospheric poison called Dllsemaor Malaria. Neutralize this poison by its Natural Antidote, and all disease caused by it disap pears at once. Rhodes' Fever and Ague Cure is this Anti dote to Malaria, and moreover It is a perfectly harmless medicine. The certificate of the celebrated chemist, J. It. Chilton, of New York, to this effect, is attached to every bottle; therefore if it does no good it can do no harm. This is more thin can be said of Quinine, Arsenic, orally tonic in existence, as their use is ruinous to the constitu • tion and brings on Dumb Ague, which never allows a per son to feel perfectly well for a single moment. In illustra tion of these truths I annex some extracts from a letter Just received tram a Physician : Geoaorrowx, Ohio, March 18, 1856. JAS. A. RHODES, Esq.—Dear Sir: Yours of 2d inst. Is at hand. The Cure arrived late last year and the difficulty in getting any one to try it was greatly increased from the the fact that a remedy hail been. introduced which was growing in favor with the public, as being better than using Quinine,—not knowing I presume that the remedy they used to escape taking gulnine, contained the Drug Itseit I This remedy, (known as "Smith's Tonic,") would Invert bly break an Ague, but it did not cure it, as it would often return with renewed vigor. This one circumstance I deem ed in your favor, if I could institute a test comparison be tween it and your cure. The following is the result: Three pergolas took your "Cure,"lill of which were cases of"Quotidianlntermlttent Fever," of mnayweeks standing They had tried Quinine, and other remedies, occasionally missing a Chill, but it was, (as in all such cases,) slowly wearing them out, and laying the foundation for other and severer maladies. I did succeed in effecting a radical cure of all throb of these cases with yourremedy, and they:have not had a chill since. In all three of these cases the "Smith's Tonic" had been used, and would, as before sta ted, break the chill, but alter a period or two had elapsed would return. I' think there will be no difficulty now In giving to your "Cure" the advantogo ground of any other remedy now In use here, t., de. WILLIAM BUCKNER, M. D. Rhode's Fever and Ague Cure, or Antidote to Malaria, the only harmless remedy in existence, is, equally certain as a preventive, as a "Cure." Take it when you feel the chills coming, and you will never have a single one. JAS. A. RHODES, R.l.Providence.. For Salo by C. A.
