The Crescent City arrived at New York on Sunday morning, with San Francisco dates to April 5. Mr. CLAIr is gradually sinking, and cannot ive many days longer. So say the Washington etter writers. Green Corn.—The New Orleans Picayune of the '2lst ult., acknowledges the receipt of half a dozen ears of green corn, raised in the garden of a friend in that city. The editor adds: "While they are shivering with their snows and cold winds in the "Athens of America," here in New Orleans we are luxuriating in the midst of the rarest vegetables of summer. North Branch Canal Injured. We regret to learn that. the late freshet in the Susquehanna caused serious damage to the ginlinished work along the line of the North Branch Canal, between Tunkhan nock tud Towanda. It will fall heavily upon the contractors, as in many places all the work upon entire sections has been swept Away. Boston, April 27.—Kossuth arrived here about 11 o'clock this morning, and was escorted to the State House, by 34 military companies. Immense crowds lined the streets, and the State House was almost bidden with flags and streamers. Gov. Boutwell, welcomed Kossuth to the city, to which he eloquently and feelingly replied. He dined at the Revere House, with the Governor and many distinguished guests. This afternoon he re viewed the troops in the Common, before riot less than 23,000 people. The spectators frantic to see Kossuth, broke the lines, but the review passed of with credit. To oun PaTaons.—The Clothiers must excuse us for recommending the Clothing House of J. Gorin, ley so particularly to the notice of our readers.— But, upon reflection, they must know that it is our duty to act for the public good. This gentleman, by cash operations, has succeeded in bringing the price of superfine Clothing within the reach of the whole community. Whilst others use every reffort to Make large profits, he has struck out in a differ ent course, which he has steadily followed, using every exertion to sell superior goods at the lowest possible price, making his extensive business done at a few cents profit on each article, sufficient, from the fact of the vast quantity sold. Large sales and small profits, is his motto, which principle is carried out to the fullest extent. The large stock and endless variety, the style, superior fit, and ele gant workmanship, are of such a character as to justify us in recommending our friends who are in want of good and cheap Clothing to go to Joseph Gormley's, North Queen street, opposite the Frank lin House, (Senors) where you will be sure to find them in any quantity, at tho Great Clothing Bazaar. May 4, 1862. • 15-tf A NOVEL COMPLAINT.—Many individuals have recently remarked, that a general complaint of a character, has become more or less prevalent in this vicinity. Those who never knew by experience any thing of Catarrh or Bronchitis, complain of a troublesome secretion about the throat, which is difficult to expectorate, and is sometimes so exces sive as to require great effort to do so. The cause is, as yet, a matter of speculation among the scien tific, but it is supposed to result from some derange ment of the digestive system. The Oxygenated Bitters aro believed to be the best remedy for this or any other difficulty'produ cod by indigestion or weakness. From an Overseer in the Hamilton Mills, in this city. Dr. J. C. Ayer : I have been cured of the worst cough I ever had in my life, by your "Cherry Pec toral," and never fail, when I have opportunity, of recommending it to others. Yours, respectfully, S. D. FatEnsort. Read the following, and see if this medicine is worth a trial. The patient had become very foo ble, and the effect of the medicine was unmistaka bly distinct:— United States Hotel, Saratoga Springs, t July 5, J 849. 5 - Dr. J. C. Ayer,—Sir : I have been afflicted with a painful affection of the lunge, and all the symp toms of settled consumption, for more than a year. I could find no medicine thatwould reach my case, until I commenced the use of your "Cherry Pec toral," which gave me gradual relief, and I have been steadily gaining my strength till my health is well nigh restored. While using your medicine, I had the gratifica tion of curing with it my reverend friend, Mr. Truman. of Sumpter District, who had been sus pended from his parochial duties by a severe attack of bronchitis. I have pleasure in certifying these facts to you, And am, air, yours respectfully, J. F. CALHOUN, of South Carolina. 11:7 - The following was one of the worst of cases, which the physicians and friends thought to be in curable consumption : CHESTER, Pa., Aug. 22, 1846. J. C. Ayer,—Sir: I was taken with a terrible cough, brought on by a cold, in the beginning of last February, and was confined to my bed more than two months. Coughing incessantly night and day, I became ghastly and pale, my eyes were sun ken and glassy, and my breath very short. Indeed, I was rapidly failing, and in such distress for breath that but little hope for my recovery could be en tertained. Whiie in this situation, a friend of mine, (the Rev. John Keller, of the Methodist church) brought me a bottle of your Cherry Pecto ral, which I tried more to gratify him, than from any expectation of obtaining relief. Its good effect 'nduced me to continue its use, and I soon found my health much improved. Now in three months, I am well and strong, and can attribute my curo only to your great meicine. With the deepest gratitude, yours, &c., JAMES GODFREY. Prepared and sold by JAMES C. AYER, practi cal Chemist, Lowell, Mass. • Sold by . JOHN F. LONG, C. A. HEINITSH, J. W.
