I have on these occasions, used 'Dr. WISTAIVS BALSAM OF WILD CHERRY. Two 'years ago I was quite sick, so much so, that I could not rest at nights. I•procured of the agent in - thiecity, a bottle of this Balsam of Wild Cherry. Before I had .taken the whole of it I felt relieved. I con tinued taking it, until I had used three or four bot tles, which completely cured me. The present season I took another severe cold, and immediately resorted to this Balsam, and a part of one bottle had the desired effect. I therefore chee'rfully commend' my friends and all others who need it, to try this medicine for their coughs and colds, and particularly the Asthma. Respectfully yours, . Wm. McGRATH. . GISH & BROTHER Dr. RICHARDSON'S SHERRY WINE BITTERS Are particularly recommended to persons suffering under the attacks of chronic diseases, or any of the depressive symptoms which arise from an impurity of the blood. In unnumbered instances, their suc cess in such attacks has seemed almost miraculous. The patient, suffering under violent and seemingly incurable afflictions, has been suddenly restored to a state of comparative health and happiness, and feels himself a renewed and • regeperated man. Such results, following the use of these Bitters, are so common as ,scarcely to excite notice among those acquainted with their operation; but to others who have never learned their inestimable value, they seem almost to exceed belief. Patients recov ering from fevers, and females debilitated by com plaints. peculiar to their sex, will obtain great benefit by their use. For sale by J. GISH & BROTHER, Booksellers, and JOHN F. Death is -a destiny, and man is chained to it; its rule is - universal: for it wanders amid and triumphs over the diverting influences of the beautiful; and anon! its ,solemn peal is echoed amid the inspira tions of terror. In health-it hangs above the soul like the sword suspended over the head of Damo cles; in sickness, like the slowly advancing, yet destructive, Pendulum. Good and bad alike swell tit.; number of its victims ; but how sweet are that consolation and hope which meet it with the feel ings of inspiration: 0 death! where is thy sting? 0 grave ! where is thy victory? Thus, this frequent longing for the cold bed of the grave; this repeated panting to embrace the portals shrouded by the sepulchre : there is peace for these—there wo is a stranger, and wo-begone countenances never meet the eye. Adieu! for a moment, adieu! for soon the friends with whom you lived will live with you : the sweeping winds will waft them HOME, and the coldness of the earth only sighrOter their graves— affecting them not. Thy home may be theirs, as their hope was thine—thy deatl may smooth theirs, as their ministering hands made calm the last mo ments of thine existence. Though the affected souls and wounded minds may mourn thy loss:— death, to thee, was but the prologue to an unend ing life of peace and felicity ; and all earthly re membrance, however destined to fade, will again bud forth in primeval freshness, when faded beauty, decrepid age, or blighting disease shall bid defiance to human skill, and seek shelter in wounded hands Divine. Extract from the London Medical Journal. " C. J. B. Williams, M. D., F. R. S., Professor of Medicine in University College, London, Consult ing Physician;to the Hospital for Consumption, &c., says: I have prescribed the Oil in above four hun dred cases ofduberculous disease of the Lungs, in different stages, which have been under my care the last two years and a half. In the large number of cases, 206 out of 234, its use was followed by marked and unequivocal improvement, varying in degree in different cases, from a temporary retarda tion of the progress of the disease and a mitigation of distressing symptoms, up to a more or less com plete restoration to apparent health. " The effect of the Cod Liver Oil in most of these cases was very remarkable. Even in a few days the cough was mitigated, the expectoration dimin ished in quantity and opacity, the night sweats ceased, the pulse became slower, and of better volume, and the appetite, flesh and strength were gradually improved. "In conclusion, I repeat that the pure fresh oil from the Liver of the Cod is more beneficial in the treatment of Pulmonary Consumption than any agent, medicinal, diatetic or regimenal, that has yet been employed." As we have made arrangements to procure the Cod. Liver Oil, fresh from head quarters, it can now be hdd chemically pure by the single bottle, or in boxes of one dozen each. Its wonderful efficacy has induced numerous , urious imitations. As its success depends en tirely upon its purity, too mucl, care cannot be used in procuring it genuine. Every bottle having on it our written signature, may be depended upon as gennine. Pamphlets containing an analysis of the Oil, with notices of it from Medical Journals, will be sent to those who address us free of l postage. _ _ JOHN C.
