From the Editor.of the N. Y. Mirror, Aug. 9,1848 A PERFECT CURE AND NO MISTAKE.—We are ,about to write a voluntary statement of a CURE re .cently effected by Wistaria Balsam of Wild Cherry; Which the editor of this piper is willing to give under his own signature. We make it pro bono publico, as we have - never seen the prorietor of this invaluable medicine, and know nothing at all about him. About four- weeks since, one of the compositors in this office was suffering so badly from a cough that he was unable to sleep nights, and too weak to stand at his case. He became very pale and thin, and gave symptoms of falling a vic tim to quick consumption. - We recommended to him various remedies which had ho effect. Finally we gaVe him one bottle of WISTAR , S BALSAM OF WILD CHERRY, which we obtaincd•of the Messrs. Sands of this city; it afforded him imme diate relief, and he is now a well man, gaining in flesh daily, with a ruddy complexion, and not the slightest symptom of a cough. These are facts, and further particulars may be learned at this office. We should add that the cough in the above case was accompanied by profuse spitting of blood. Price $1 per bottle; six bottles for $5. - None genuine -unless signed I. BUTTS on the wrapper. Wd hope they may succeed. Lancaster, June 12, 1899. . 3m-I9 The following letter is from a clergyman of the Bo'Ptist denomination. The author is well known throughout all the Eastern parts of New England for the fearless expression•of matured opinions. This complimentary notice, from a gentleman of such standing in the North, cannot be but particu larly gratifying. DR. S. O. RICHARDSON: Dear Sir—lt may be a matter of little importance that I should express an opinion respecting your valuable Bitters, being almost a stranger to you. I have been acquainted with them for inure than five years, and have used them as a family medi cine almost solely, to the exclusion of other medi cines. They have been serviceable to my children in various complaints incident to them. The last season I found them highly useful in an instance of measles, of the worst kind. Our three children were attacked with this violent disease about the same time, and two of them were very sick. We did not . have a physician, but I administered the Bitters - freely, which had the speedy effect to bring out the measles, and although the fever wan very high which attended them, they did well. From thin successful experiment of their use in this and other cutaneous diseases with which our family have been afflicted, I am prepared cheerfully to recommend them as a safe family medicine. In the spring season of the year, in case of jaundice and headache, with which I hare been sorely af flicted, I have found them a curative, and consider them valuable, especially in that season of the year. Very respectfully, Augusta, July, 1843. E. R. WARREN. For sale by J. GISH & BRO., Booksellers, and J. F. HENRY E. LEMAN :—Your favor of the 25th inst., is at hand, and in reply say that the Grind stones we run with Wortz's wheel are from 5 to 6 feet high, 9 to 12 inches thick, weighing from 3 to 5000 lbs. We formerly used an undershot wheel 12 feet wide and 14 feet high. Our head in an ordinary stage of the water is about 3 feet, 3 or 4 inches. Sometimes much less than that. With the old wheel we run two grindstones. In the same. place - we have now four of Wortz's wheels (3 36 and 1 40 inches,) running four grindstones and one trip hammer weighing about 80 lbs. with less water and doing more work in the same time. In regard to the quality of the wheel for the purpose of grinding, it is far superior to any I have ever used or seen used, and for a low head I believe it is the best wheel in use—during the whole minter (which has been unusually cold) we have not been affected at all with the ice, and in high - water at a stage - Which would stop he old wheel entirely, we now find no inconvenience from back water. Any fur ther information on the subject I will be happy to communicate, or it you could make it convenient to visit Chambersburg I will take great pleasure in showine you the wheels. DR. S. M. SHANNON, fanm..] • of - Neshvillej Tennessee • G. B. MARKLEY & SON, WOULD respectffilly announce to the citizens of Lancaster and the public in general, that they have purchased the agency from Dr. S. M. SHANNON, of Nashville, Tennessee, as the above certificate will show under his hand and seal. His unpftmlelled success in the treatment of a large majority of those diseases which : have ever been regarded as incurable by the modern and more fashionable practice, has induced him to send forth this card to the afflicted portion of mankind. He has within the past twelve months imparted in structions to upwards of 2000 citizens of Tennessee, Uirginia, North and South Carolina, Kentucky, and Indiana, among them physicians of high standing, and they all bear testimony of their entire satisfac tion. He has also succeeded in giving permanent relief to nearly 3000 individuals, ample proof of which he can adduce. It is not pretended that the concentration of the results of medical research emanates from one author, for be he ever so versed in medical science, he would come far, far short of so herculean a task. Dr. S. has been engaged since 1836, in selecting and purchasing all the popular and secret remedies which could be obtained in England, Ireland, Ger many and the United States, from those who were eminently successful in curing some one of the following diseases, viz: rheumatism, dyspepsia, sick and nervous headache, pains or weakness in the back and joints, paralysis, neuralgia, spinal affections, epilepsy, toothache, contractions'of the muscle, weak or inflamed eyes, piles, asthma, can cer, tetter, frost bite, scrofula, ulcers, mercurial diseases of long standing, female diseases, general debility, &c. For full instructions, for the cure of all diseases originating in, or causing the derangement of the nervous system, so that those who receive instruc tions can act with equal efficiency as themselves, their charge is only TEN DOLLARS. Per Sons afflicted with any of the above named diSeases would do well to call on the above named Agents, and if not effectually relieved, no remune ration will be required for their services. Their motto is «NO CURE, NO PAY." N. B.—ln connection with the above we are pre pared to meet the wants of the siclt , and afflicted. _ _ G. B.
