The news from Rhede Island grows better as the days lengthen, and new it is assured that, besides electing their gever nor, tee Democrats nave obtained control of the legislature by a majority of nine. Thisensuies them the full complement of state officers, and, if there was a United States senator te cheese, that fat plum would also be theirs. It is net wonderful that the Democracy of the state are celebrating their victory in a manner proportionate te its vastness. Since the organization of the Republican party, Rhede Island has ever been steadfast in that faith, and this complete revolution that has ensued there is as gratifying te the Democrats as it is paraljzlng te the Republicans. He arrived from the Meuth en Friday afternoon quite 111 from Intestinal disorder, complicated with heart trouble. About midnight Saturday night he com menced falling rapidly, and became uncon scious. He was attended by members et his company, who are grief-stricken ever the sad occurrence. Mr. Raymond's family 11 e in New Yerk. The remains were sent te New Yerk at 0 o'clock Sunday evening. Jehn T. Raymond was eue of the most widely known et American actors. He was of Irish descent, his name having been changed te Raymond from O'Brien. Mr. Rsytuend's successdated from the production of a dramatization of Mark Twain's "Gilded Age."
