A Slight.Bkize That Was Extinguished Without Much LMIIlcultj-. This morning about 10 o'clock an alarm el fire was struck lrem box -11, which is located at West Lemen and Market streets. The tire was in the heuse at 408 Xerth Queen street, which is occupied by Geerge U. Richards and owned by Richard J. Mc Grann. There was a large pile of shavings and kindling In the cellar aud they took tire from a spark which came from the stove en tiie first lloer, through the line. There is an arch in tbe basement, upon which the Hue is built, and en the top of the arch is u pipe hole leading into this Hue. Mr. Richards and his family knew nothing about this hole when the kindling weed wus placed under It, though the family that previously had oc cupied the house had a stove under the arch in the basement and en removing left the nole open. Tbe department was promptly en hand and the lire was extinguished with a stream from engine Ne. 4. The house was net damaged by the lire, but tbe cellar was almost tilled with water.
