K. church, Philadelphia conference.cemmencod their sessions in the Mt. Zlen A. M. . church en Wednesday morning. Rev. Wm. W. Grimes, of Lancaster, presiding elder, presided ever the meeting and Rev. J, W. Norris, of Reading, acted as the secretary. A large number of ministers from tbe dlflerent churches of this district were present. The attention of the meeting was given te vari ous topics, which were ably discussed. Dur ing yesterday the temperance and the public school question received the attention of the delegates present, also the necessary means for making the churches mere spiritually prosperous. The arrangement of circuits was also debated upon, as some of the ministers nre onnesed te catntv meetlngs. Frem reports received the several . cnurches are in an excellent spiritual condi tion and a fair condition financially. The educational question will be discussed this afternoon, opened by Rev. T. H. Moere, of Columbia. The tople for this evening will be the Sunday school cause, the relations of parents te children and of the church te the Sunday school, opened by Rev. J. W. Norris or Reading The Sunday school of the town church will attend the meeting this evening and the exercises will be very interesting. Cowardly Act That Should be rnnUhtd. On last Tuesday night James McClure, living en Seuth Fifth street, accompanied by bis wife, was coming from the opera house, when he met a man, near his home acting in a disorderly manner. McClure made a few remarks te the fellow, who became very much incensed and was going te fight. Mc Clure and his wife passed en te thulr home, when tbe man In a mean cowardly macner hurled a large stone with great force at Mc Clure, striking blm In the forehead above the left temple.
