PALMER'S U&ATM The rimeui Kvangallst Hrtli at Ocean Greve the Bnd be Expected . The famous preacher and traveler, Dr. W. G. Palmer, the foremost advocate of the dectriDe of perfect holiness, died at Osean Greve, N. J., en Friday afternoon. He was seventy-nine years old, and for fifty hears, he claimed, his life has been net only free from sin, but also from the smallest inclination te wrong doing. Dr. Palmer had devoted nearly all his time and money since giving up the practice of medicine, in 1858 te the furtherance of his special belief before the public. Bern in New Yerk in 1804, he graduated from the College of Physicians, and during the following thirty-three years he devoted himself te his profession. He was in religion a Methodist and, with his first wife, ths famous Phoebe Palmer, early embraced the holiness doctrine. He abandoned his profession and, with Mrs. Palmer, went te Europe in 1859. They traveled four years through Great Britain, holding relieieus services. On .their return te New Yerk tbey instituted a series of Tuesday afternoon holiness meetings at their icsidence, which has neirer since been interrupted. Phoebe Palmer died in 1874. The doctor married his deceased wife's sister, a woman wholly engrossed in the advocacy of holiness. Every summer for eght years they have held revival meet ings daily at 9 o'clock a. m. in the taber nacle, at Ocean Greve. This year Dr. Palmer came as usual in June, but he was attacked by dysentary and had te go away, leaving the meetings te the conduct of his wife. He returned Friday morning, much improved in health. About 5 o'clock, p. m , he was sitting in his room when Mrs. Palmer sug gested that he had better lie en the bed. He had no sooner done se than he raised himself te a sitting posture, pressed his hand te his heart and said : "I am going. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." These were the last words he ever spoke and in a few seconds he fell back dead. A stroke of heart disease, from which he had long expected a death blew, bad come at last. He was tall, erect and white-haired, with a kindly face and with the appear ance of being much younger than he really was. The remains will be taken te New Yerk for burial en Tuesday.
