The Green back state committee has met ; the Pro hibitionists have put their warpaint en all the mere thickly because of the defeat of their amendment ; the Republicans have fixed Wednesday, July 11, in Harris burg for their convention, and the Demo cratic state executive committee is te meet in Harrisburg en Wednesday of this week te complete arrangements for the state convention of that party in Harris burg en Wednesday, August 1. The beard of ministerial relief reported receipts from churches, $7e74G ; perma nent fund, $300,410, yielding $13,000 mere. It has aided 188 ministers, 252 widows and 26 orphan families of ministers. An in crease of the aid te beneficiaries te $300 each was authorized whenever funds will permit. The Assembly created a new beard, " The Presbyterian Beard of Aid for Colleges and Academies," with head quarters at Chicago, te found institutions of learning in the West and te assist existing Presbyterian institutions. Dr. Spaeth, of Philadelphia, stated that the family of the late Dr. Krauth had requested the administrator of the estate te present the library be longing te Dr. Krauth te the Theological seminary. This library is estimated te contain between 15,000 and 16,000 vel. umes and is regarded as the finest and best selected one in the United States. It was resolved te signalize the four hundredth anniversary of the birth of Martin Luther by entering in the name of the Lord en the work of erecting new seminary buildings in Phila. delphta. In the International Yeunc Men's Christian association convention at Mil waukee, en Saturday evening, there was a discussion of the methods of helping com. mercial travelers and of general plans for the erection of an association building. The joint stock scheme was said te be a failure. A detachment of the Salvation Army began a " campaign " yesterday in New Haven, en the step3 of the old State Heuse. The audience numbered about 2,500 in the morning and 4,000 in the evening, and the proceedings were orderly. Rev. Dr. Horublewer, Professer of Homiletics in the Western Theological seminary, was stuck with paralysis yester day morning, while preaching in tbe Bellefield Presbyterian church, Pitts burgh. His condition is critical. The fifth anniversary of G. W. Sawyer's gospel temperance work in New Yerk city was celebrated last night in Cooper's institute. Mr. Meedy made an address aud Mr. Sankey sang some of his popular hymns. A. h. h. v. nearly a Halt Century's Werk. The 50th anniversary of the American Sunday-school union was celebratid in Hartferd, Connecticut, last evening. A large audience was present, and General Jeseph R. Hawley presided and made the opening address. Addresses were also made by Rev. Dr. C. L. Goodell, of St. Leuis, and ex Governer Colquitt, of Georgia. It was reported that during the year 2,252 new schools were organized, with 10,376 teachers and 82,749 pupils. In the forty-nine years of its existence, the union has organized 74.027 scholars, with a total membership of 3,587,850. PKKSUKTKUIAN8 SOUTH. Fraternal UreetlDgs te Northern Delegates. In the Southern Presbyterian assembly at Lexington, Kentucky, en Saturday, an address was presented by the delegates from the Northern assembly. Of the seven delegates five were introduced, namely : Judge Streng, of Washington ; Rev. T. D. Prime, D. D., of New Yerk ; Hen. Samuel M. Moere, of Chicago ; Rev. E. Humphreyvi'le, of Louisville, Ky., and Rev. J. Laud Niccells, D. D., of St. Leuis. The address expressed the most fraternal sentiment and the delegates spoke in the same spirit.
