value.
The tide of buyers out of the

unabated. If you have saved
the papers and will read what
wc have said, or if you are
curious te see hew little extrava

few minutes in examining into

Real Laces. We have taken
up this branch of the business
te de it thoroughly. Our con
nections with Paris and Brussels
are direct. We show en our
counters and in our cases the
same goods that are used by
Werth, Pingat and Hentenaar
in trimming the charming models
of mantles and costumes that
we get from them.
Laces are the fashionable
trimmings this season in the best
workrooms.
The old Chantillyand Spanish
Laces are still sought for.theugh
the Matelasse Spanish is newer ;
Escurial is newer still, and the
Vandyke is the newest of all.
Brussels Point in cream and
antique yellow shade, as though
it had already been worn by the
ancients. It is wonderful that
lace machines should produce
copies of such costly laces and
that art should age them as
seen as they are born. It is
difficult for some people te step
out of the beaten tracks, but a
single call at the lace counter
will settle where laces can be
wisely bought.
Neck Runnings and Ruchings
are new in stock in wonderful
profusion.
Our up-stairs factories save
several profits, of which our cus
temers have the benefit. When
ever Ave run out of a style and
have te buy it from ether mak
ers we are compelled te charge
higher, se that we knew that
our own make of Ruchings is
always cheaper. Embroidered
Linen Cellars are near the Lace
Department. We keep up the
steady stream of these Goods
from the foreign houses and have
all the sizes new in stock. The
celebrated house of Degnin have
sent us a fine let of Seufle Nets.
27 inches wide, 28c, all colors.
This is a very low price.

Racine, Wis., May 19 The cyclone
which struck this city last night, demol
ished 150 houses and barns ; about 20 per
sons were killed and 100 wounded,
Towards neon the sky became overcast,
and at 4 p. m., a sharp electric storm pre
vailed. The cyclone struek the earth with
a rear and rumble similar te that which
would be made up by ene thousand rail
road trains passing a bridge. Many occu
pants of dwellings sought refuge in cellars.
The storm came with such rapidity that
many were killed befere reaching the cel
lars. The storm moved from this city and
swept ever Lake Michigan.
What an Investigation Showed.
The investigation, bean early this morn
ing, only served te swell the list of casual
ties and make mere sweeping the destruc
tien occasioned by the cyclone last night.
It is new estimated that fully 20 wero
killed aud 100 injured. One bunched
and fifty houses were demolished. Had
the storm struck the business ceutm. the
damage would net have beeu calculable.
At Western Union junction seven miles
west of Racine, many houses were wreck

doing a large ameuut of damage and kill

southeasterly course aud followed
up Salt creek, iu this county,
en the line of which many houses
were totally destroyed. About six miles
south of Clinten the wind tere down a
house killing Peter Clinten his wife and
an eight year old daughter, and fatally in
juring another child. The members of a
family named Bennison were seriously
injured and many ether families mere or
