The cause of his death was supposed te have been gastrie fever, but the father, Simen Merris, made an affida vit a month age that his son's widow, Anna Merris, had informed him that she administered poison te her husband. This theory was borne out by the suddenness of the young man's death. Twe weeks age the body was" exhumed and sent te Prof. Reese for an analysis. This has been completed, and the professor, while refusing te give the results, says that im portant developments will be revealed. James Merris and his brother Prank, who died en January 22d last, had their lives insured in favor of the former's wife and Frank's death, which was also sad den, was attributed te laudanum poison ing.
