U ir connubial fever rages unabated. A Im-aih of it is fatal, and great numbers i'a'.l Ujfoio it. Following arc a few of the uui Ttuuate victims. Thos. W. Urown ai:d Georgia Paxson, Harvey Kubns and Anute M. McCrabb, Jamc3 McConkoy aud Clara Emag, Edwin V. Gregg and Anna Jen king, and many more doomed for tbo holidays. We wish them many happy ycuoand a merry Christmas. .Mr Edwin Bookmyor, of Lancaster, who last week was graining at the new bouse of 51 r. David Weidloy, Fairfield, slipped uii tl.o ice near bis boarding bouse and butt, bis ankle kciiously. Dr. Glacken was called in and found ono of the small bones broken. Air. Bookmyer returned to bis borne no doubt with painful recol lections of our usually pretty fair kind of a village Mr. Lukeus Penrose also mot with a bad accideut last week. While cutting wood, by some miss stioko be cut bis foot very badly indeed, and will likely feel tbo b.id effects of it the remainder of bis life. Sir. C. Hilton, who has beou keeping &toro at Poach Bottom, has bought the store property at Mechanic's Grove, from air. J. L. Achcsou, and will move there in the spring. Our community will have to do less niarryiug or build more bouses. The de mand exceeds the supply. But little tobacco is stripped, the weather haviug.bccn, and being, too dty to handle it. Oueer Wild Ducks Caught Allie. Havre -de (iruuc Republican. During tbo storm of Weduesday John Sutor, while gunning near Watson Island, saw a pair of strange ducks on land and went ashore to give them chase and ono of them catching its wing in tho bushes, was easily captured. Its mate Hew around the island several times, bat would not stay away from its captured companion. Coming closer to air. Suter it was struck with an oar and caught. Tbo pair were purchased by air. W. A. Dill, of tho City hotel, for $10, who has them now coniincd in an outhouso. They are of a ilaik bronze color, with slightly reddibh bieasts, aud when iu tho sunlight present a beautiful appearance. These ducks have been seen by visitors aud sportsmen from Baltimore, Philadelphia and Now York, as well as our duckcrs generally, none of whom know their names or have ever seen the kind before. The pair will weigh six teen or eighteen pounds. Tbo Thirteen Club. Tho "Thirteen Club" diued on Wednesday evening (tbo loth) at Knickeiboekcr Cottage, Ho. 434 (which added makes 1) Sixth avonuo, New York, Thirteen men walked up thirteen stops aud passed under a ladder containing thir teen rounds, aud then sat down to a ro past of thirteen course, accompanied with thirteen kinds of liquet aud wines. It is said each ono of tho thiiteou perpetiatcd thirteen jokes, all of which were as old as tho time of Louis XIII. The ices served wore moulded in the shape of coffins, and one of the chceiful decorations of the room was a skeleton. Thirteen speeches were raado during the banquet, and no tices were served on all to attend the an uiveisary dinner January 13.
