William Casey, a Madison county, Ky. man, was twice a widower, his last wife having died in May. He was apparently iu search of wife number three, and he had for Mine time laid a siege to the hand of Miss Paulino East, a pretty young gl of fifteen, daughter of a well-to-do and respectable farmer of Tcatorsville. Her fnmiitr was nnnnsod to Ca&ev. and had more than ouoe ordered him away. Ho seemed to have better lack with the girl, however, for one day last week be induced her under promise of marriage to run oil with him. They were gone several days, returning on Saturday with his promise unfulfilled. On Sunday morning, when Owen East, brother or the girl, saw Casey, he accused him of ruining his sister, and, after a few words, knocked him down with a club, breaking his skull and causing death during tho night. East has not been arrestod yet, though he lias niado no effort to escape. m m Au Erie Editor Arretted for Libel. A few days ago tho papers from Boston to Chicago were ringing with alleged blackmailing operations at Buffalo and Bolivar, New York, by a Mrs. Richard Gross, a beautiful and seductive siren, who had been bleeding blue blood victims to an enormous amount. Owing to tho fact that the young woman had a local reputa tion i;i Erie tho Erie Morning Dispatch copied somo of the specials from Buffalo. Tuewlay mos-uiug the dashing young lady appoared inEriowith a written proposition for tho editor of tho D'apatch to meet her ia an oilice and amicably arrange for griev ances, to wit, tho copying of the specials concerning her. Mr. James It Willard docliaed tho proposition and was subse quently arrested for criminal libel.
