Constant Accessions te the Baufcs of tne Strikers in Jersey City Orderly, but determined la Their Stand. Jehsev Citt, N. J., June 26. The situ ation in Jersey city is hourly becoming mere and mere interesting. The strange spectacle is presented of a few determined men controlling a large body of strikers and holding in check that spirit et law lessness which has shown itself en almost every similar occasion. The strikers are admirably handled and march through the streets four abreast. This morning about 200 trackmen em pleyed by the New Yerk, Lackawanna and Western railroad joined the strikers. They have been receiving $1.10 per day and de manded $1.50. The switchmen and brake men employed by the Erie railroad com pany have also joined the strikers. The freight traffic of the read is at a complete standstill. Superintendent Hill, ou being asked what he thought of the situation, replied : " We are in the hands of a mob. If the strikers remain orderly I don't anticipate any serious trouble ether than the com plete stoppage of business which will result in an enormous less te the company, but if the strikers should become violent a great less of lie would ensue, and I very much doubt the ability of the police, special and regular, te cope with the strikers. What could two or three hundred police de against 1,500 able bodied men? The police would be flung into the river." Six hundred strikers assembled this morning at St. Michael's institute. A communication from the Brakeman's as sociation, requesting an adjournment of the meeting till this afternoon was read, and the meeting adjourned. The men then gathered in Hamilton Square, where they marched in line toward the yard of Central railroad of New Jersey, at Com Cem munipaw. The Pennsylvania company have succeeded in inducing about 75 of their old hands te resume work. A num ber of freight trains en the read have been moved this morning. THE fllAWITOBA CAl'ASTltOrHE. A Conductor Accused of Criminal Care lessness. St. Paul, Minn., June 26 It was im possible te get particulars of the accident ou the Manitoba railway line, from Wil mar or Atwater up te ene o'clock, this morning. It was learned at the dispatch er's office of the Manitoba railway last evening that tbrce of the wounded men had died during the day at Wilmar. Jeseph Geran, conductor of the ill-fated train, was arrested at Wilmar and placed in jail at Atwater, but was afterwards re leased en bail. He is charged with hav ing run his train at a rate net less than 40 miles an hour, and under' pretest from both engineer and fireman. Train men say that if the charge is true the con ductor is guilty of criminal carelessness in the highest degree, as it is very dangerous te run an engine backward at a high rate of speed, as the tender is se tight that it will almost te a certainty fly off the track. The wounded will be brought here to morrow. It was further learned that an inquest was te be held at 12 o'clock last night, at Wilmar, ever the bodies of the dead, and that conductor Geran was te be removed te Wilmar te be in attendance. It is impossible te ascertain the names of the three persons who died during the day. Ne additional bodies have been found. jsaiPT. Uneasiness Along the Suez Canal. Alexandkia, June 26.
