A SCENE AT TUI GU1TEAD TRIAL. The rnsener Itemeved te the Place Pre. vlaed for Ordinary Prisoners. "Washington, Dec. 28. Guiteau came into court te-day looking paler than usual. and cemplaine'l be bad net slept well. It seems a maniac, sulferinr from excessive use of morphine, occupied a cell near Guiteau last night, and bis shrieks kept the assassin awake. The latter was much annoyed, and asked, "Why don't you choke him and make him keep quiet, and net let respectable people be disturbed this way by a miserable lunatic '.' " Dr. McDonald again took the stand and was cress-examined by Scoville.en the sub ject of temporary insanity. The doctor reierreu incidentally te a certain man whom he had known te be insane only for twenty-four hours when Scevillo eagerly suggested, "And then he get well." "Xe; he died "said the doctor, which raised a laugh at Scevillo's expense. Wit ness reiterated his statement of yesterday that he-believed Guiteau was feigniug in sanity. Drs. Randelph Barksdale, of Richmond, and Jehn II. Callender, of Nashville, both testified that they had visited the prisoner iu jail and had observed his actions in court. Beth believed him sane. The lat ter witness, referring te previous testi mony that Guiteau was " a moral mon strosity," said he could net understand the term, eScept that it might be a peiseu of average intellectual ability who gives rein te his evil tendencies. A recess was then taken. After recess Scevillo brought in plaster paris cast of Guiteau's head and proposed te put Clark Mills, the sculp tor, en the stand. This was ob jected te, when Scevillo put a hypothetical question te the last witness, which embraced the clause, " Suppose the prisoner believed himself te be a partner with Jesus Christ." Mr. Petter objected te the question as blasphemous and a disgrace te a Christian nation. A scene ensued during which Perter, iu his most impressive manner, demanded i u the tunic of the American people that the prisoner be removed te the deck. The prisoner ineauwhile scowled and snarled at these about him, shouting : ''Yeu big-mouthed Perter," aud threaten ing te slap someone in the mouth. Argument followed and Guiteau was eventually remevd te the deck. HIE WORK OF TUK FI.AJIhS. A Village Devastated by an Incendiary rue. Keokuk, Iowa, Dec. 28.
