A representative of the associated press iu conversation with Dr. Bliss immediately after the issuance of the merning'bulletin, inquired as te what leugth of time the president would probably remain at Leng Branch. Iu leply the doctor said prob ably until the middle of October, that if this favorable condition continues, and the several lesions healed satisfactorily as he believed they would, the president would rally very rapidly, and that in such event he thought a veyage te the southern coast en the Tallapoesc would be desirable and beneficial. Should the president make the request te-day, he will again be placed in his reclining chair for a short time. 10:30 a. jr. At the reg ular neon prayer meeting at the hall of the Yeung Men's Christian association, yesterday, after prayer had been offered for the sufferers by the Michigan forest fires, the suggestion was made that if they expected the Lord te hear prayers of the sett net backed up by coin, they were badly mistaken, as he did net do de business that war. A subscription was at once started and 8100 collected, which it expected will be increased promptly te tSQO. The amount collected was tele graphed toMayer Carlten, Pert Huren, as the first installment from San Francisce. Indescribable SBffertag. New Yere, Sept. 14. The following telegram was received by the president of the Michigan fire relief committee in this city : " Pert Huren, Mich., Sept. 14. Har just emerged from the burnt district have traveled ever 75 miles of reads iu it. The suffering and devastation are indescrib able. In many places, as far as the eye can see along the land once occupied by comfortable homes and a prosperous people, scarcely anything is visi ble but what seems a bound less sea of ashes, from which arises a stifling odor of burning flesh and bones. The blinded and fire-crazed people abound. Transportation is difficult, and supplies ceme through slowly, especially at a distance from the shore and railway. A man is asked the whereabouts of his wife and children, and he stares wildly, he leaps at a leaf of bread, and leaps away like a wild beast. Almest hourly the names of additional victims are added te the burned and te the death list. The homeless are thousands. The blind ed, scerched, crippled and deranged are very, very many. My own relations are heavy losers, but have abundance te spare foretbors. They are all alive, but my mother and my brother will I fear leso their oyesiirht. Woeful want prevails and will be hard te supply. Fer Ged's sake let net the blesssed hand of charity be tee seen stayed in New Yerk." Mr. Cresby stated that the cemmitteee forwarded ever $1,500 te Michigan this morning aud that $5,000 would be sent this afternoon. MAKKETN. fntlHdelphla Market. PuitADBLFHiA, Sept. 11.
