LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER, MONDAY, JUNE 27, 1881. Uncasrft Intelligencer. MONDAY EVENING, JUNE 27, M81. Tebacce. Last Week's New Verk Jarltet. Lear. Frem the footing of the week's sales, 'which show an aggregate of 5,915 cases, it would appear as if an uncommonly large business had been done. A portion of the reported transfers, however, might properly be credited te the sales of the preceding week. Yet after making this allowance, it is evident from the ligurcs that a steady and geed demand has pre vailed for available growths and varieties since our last review. Large purchases of 1380 leaf were made, and noticeably of Wisconsin Havana seed leaf, the bulk of which was taken by a prominent local cigar manufacturing firm. Messrs. J. S. Gans' Sen & Ce., tobacco brokers, Ne. 131 Water street, report : Business has somewhat quieted down, as was natural should be the case. Large premature transactions iu a crop that is by no means perfect are generally detrf mental te trade, and it is te be hoped that the 1880 crop will rest quietly until samp ling time arrives. Total sales for the week ending June 27, 1S31 : 500 cases 1880 Pennsylvania, asserted lets, 15(5i,19c.; 250 cases 1879 Pennsylvania, 8(5,300.; 725 cases New England, seconds, 10 12c; Housatonic asserted, 21(n,23c ; 2,400 cases 18S0 Wisconsin, Havana seed, 13felCc; 150 cases 1879 Ohie, 4(a13c.; 100 cases foundries, 9(a,18e. Total, 4,125 cases. The Philadelphia Market, Se-w-d Leaf. Packers and dealers all ex-pre-- gratifying astonishment at the con tinued demand and sale of cigar leaf ; they claim business is net heavy, but much be yond the sales customary at this season. Prices ate fully sustained and old goods daily placed in hands for consumption ; henci; packers feel that the futuic is full of premise for them. The italauce sheet of ttte World. A book has just been published in Lon Len Lon eon, which shows gicat capacity in dealing with immense totals se as te make them clear in the ordinary comprehension, The first thing specially striking is the increase in the elements of the world's progress from 1870 te 1880.
