Geerge Cuminings, of this city, an acro
bat of considerable eminence, has re
ceived a telegram in which an engagement
is offered him te travel with Batcheller &
Deris's great show. He will meet the
show at Easten, Pa.
Probably the first lawn mower, adapted
for a horse, ever brought te this city is a
"Pennsylvania" mower with a thirty-inch
blade delivered te-day by Flinu & Willson
te Mr. B. J. McGrann. It has shafts and
a scat for the driver, and is ene of the
kind that can clip ten penny nails like
grass blades. It was quite a novelty te
the many persons who saw it when set
up.
Rev. J. B. Seule, of this place, will
preach in the Yerk Baptist church, to
morrow. In the circuit court, Philadelphia, yes
terday, Clias. R. McCenkey was appointed
receiver of the Middle division of the P.
I. narrow-gauge railroad from Yerk te
Peach Bettem. Similar proceedings have
a'se been instituted iu the same court
against the Eastern division of the read,
but no receiver has been appointed it.
The revised edition of the New Testa
ment made its appearance iu the book
stores te-day for the iirst time. It is
printed in several forms, the smallest of
which is a paper-covered edition in non
pareil type that sells at 15 cents per copy.
In flexible muslin backs with red edges it
sells at 20 cents. An edition in larger type
fully bound iu cloth sells at 91,00 and a
still larger one, in iu pica type at $2.50.
There will, no doubt, be an active demand
for the revised version and careful com
parison made of it with the old version.

despatch says : "Miguel Signie was hanged
at Florence yesterday;" also "Curly
Bill," the notorious Texas cowboy, who
killed Mashal White, of Tombstone,
recently and who captured a church at
Charleston with his gang, and made the
clergyman dance before the eongregatieu,
and raided several towns m the vicinity
at different times, was shot and mortally
wounded at Galesville, yesterday, by Jim
Wallace, one of his comrades. Wallace
was released en the ground of self-defense.

The trouble ever the Adirondeck mine
came te a focus yesterday morning. Jehn
Kcegh and Jehn Malenoy have for seme
time been living iu a cabin en
the mine holding' possession. Yesterday
morning atflve oxleck a deputy sheriff of
Gunnison county and D. B. Powers, with
a number of ethers, appeared at the mine.
A warrant was readfer the arrest of Kcegh
and Maleney, which they refused te hear.
Beth being well armed, firing seen began,
resulting in the wounding of Maleney in the
right hand and of Keogh in the arm.
The Powers party then took possession
of the property, which they held until 9 a.
m., whena large number of well-armed
citizens compelled them te vacate and
arrested eleven of their party under
united States warrants en the charge of
assault with intent te kill. They were
placed under $1;000 bends te await exam
ination te-day. Kcegh'and Maleney have
been released.
A later special despatch says : The trial
f if the Powers party has been postponed te
Monday. The deputy sheriff telegraphed
te Gunnison City that the mob was in
creasing and asked for aid, net consider
ing himself safe at Irwin. Irwin is situ
ated en theUte reservation, ever which the
United States courts alene have jurisdic
tion, and the deputy sheriffs were acting
outside of their territory, and heuce the
arrest of the sheriffs deputies.
Mrs. Garfield's nines,
Washington, May 31. Mrs. Garfield's
condition remains unchanged te-day. As,
however, this is the alternate day, upon
which her fever is expected te be higher,
her attending physician considers her gen
eral improvement as a most hopeful
sympten.

from Onin, Algeria, states that a column
of French troops under Colonel Innecicnts
has been attacked by a body of five thou
sand insurgents led by the chief of the
Beuamcna rebels and defeated after a hotly
ceu tested engagement in which the French
lest forty native auxiliaries killed and
weuuded.

this city, was robbed this morning of 810,
500 in bends. The bends had been placed
behind a screen, whence they were taken

Pacific Bend Interest.
Washington, May 21. The secretary
of the treasury has directed that tiie in
tcrcst en the Pacific railroad bends shall
hereafter be paid by checks from the de
partment instead of upon schedules at the
sub-treasury 'office as heretofore. All
registered interest paid by the treasury
will,' therefore, hereafter be paid by check.
Disastrous Fire Iu Dublin.
Duiiun, May 21. The premises of
Hodgsen, MacMastcr & Ce., druggists
and oil refiners, were burned te-day. The
damage is estimated at 50,000. The
burning oil ignited eleven adjoining houses
