THE ROBINS.
They cUoe their nook, the bennle birds,
'Mid tUe crab tree's perfumed snow ;
And her three blue eggs the brown hen laid
In her warm soft nest 'neath the blossoms'
shade ; '
And patient she kept her watch of lore.
And patient her mate te feed her strove.
But it's eh. and It's oil, for the bonnie birds,
Fer a weary wait they had,
While tbc hours danced by, 'neath the sweet
spring sky.
And the thickets rang where the thrushes
t-ang.
And the fields wure with cowslips clad.
They hatched their eggs, the bennle birds,
ISy one, by two, by three ;
And hour by hour each yellow bill
Gupcd wide for the parents' tell te fill ;
And the robins, en swift untiring wing,
Tended each clamorous nestling.
liul it - eh, and it's eh, ler the bonnie birds.
Fer a heavy task was theirs.
A fiein morn's first light te the fall e! night
Still te and lroen their quest they go,
Ner ever might ccae from cares.
They tended theii young, the bonnie birds,
Till Hie counted weeks were past,
Till the down grew datk upon back and crest,
And Ihu red turned bright en each little
breast ;
And with chirp an I twitter and preen of
feather,
The breed hopped out et their nest together.
And it's eh, and it's en, for the bonnie birds,
Who had w.it.hd nfld worked their day ;
Worked hour by hour, tnreugh sun am
shower.
Fer their task was done, and then one by one

These who are willing te jje te a little
tieuhle te save their peach and plum
trees fiem the borers should new at once
attend te it. If the trees already have
bems in them they must be taken out,
which can best be done with the pointed
blade of a pocket knife. First dig away
the earth fiem the stem of the trees down
te the loots, or about three or four inches.
Then take out every borer. Then take a
strip of muslin or ether cloth aud wind it
tight around the tree from the roots up
about .siv te eiiiht inches above the ground
and fasten well with tying twine or ether
stiing. A narrow strip two or three iuches
wide, wiapped around the tree spirally
fiem below upwards, wound close and well
lapped se as te cover every part of the
baik, deesvciy well. Then, when this is
done, weik the gieund up and around the
tice again and pack tightly against the
.stem se as te leave the wrapped part el
thcaiea thiee or four inches under ground.
This will last all summer aud it is the only
sine remedy against the beter.
