If the trees already have bems in them they must be taken out, which can best be done with the pointed blade of a pocket knife. First dig away the earth fiem the stem of the trees down te the loots, or about three or four inches. Then take out every borer. Then take a strip of muslin or ether cloth aud wind it tight around the tree from the roots up about .siv te eiiiht inches above the ground and fasten well with tying twine or ether stiing. A narrow strip two or three iuches wide, wiapped around the tree spirally fiem below upwards, wound close and well lapped se as te cover every part of the baik, deesvciy well. Then, when this is done, weik the gieund up and around the tice again and pack tightly against the .stem se as te leave the wrapped part el thcaiea thiee or four inches under ground.
