LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER, TUESDAY, APRIL 26. 1881 BART ITEMS. treta Georgetown and Vicinity. Mrs. Catherine Stauffer, wife of Chris tian Stauffer of this township died en Sun day afternoon, 24th, after a protracted ill ness. Speculation in regard te the Clugsteu murder is at present pointing towards the two parties spoken of last week. Stewart and Rice, both of whom arc well known in this vicinity. Hellis Geed is about te quit our town ship te return te Renovo, .where he has le ceived a positional clerk. The wife of Mr. Geed has for several years been prin cipal of the Green Tiee seminary. The tobacco warehouse of Martin & Fritz is being painted by Israel Alexander two colors, the lower story dark and the upper or ball-part a lightershade. A few sales have been made in tobacco during the past week from among which we glean the following prices : Jehn M. Pickel, 19 cents for wrappers ; Henry Baughman 18 cents for wrappers ; James Thompson, 15, 0 and 3, Rebert Kain's crop was .sold teL. T. llenscl. Sev eral ether lets have also been picked up by different buyers en private terms. Martin & Fiitz will leceive at their warcroem en Saturday, 30th inst. It is said that about fifteen acres are te be delivered en that day. Several of the largest lets grown in the township are jet en hand with quite a number of small ones. Mr. Delia veti, of Lancaster, is expected te be here this morning, 23th inst., te over see the casing of Martin & Fritz's tobacco. The Polish Immigrants. A number of the Polish immigrants mention of whom was made in yesterday's Intelligencer, have obtained employ ment with families of this city and county, but a large proportion of them are yet without homes, and are quartered at Gee. Kirchcr's hotel, East King sheet, wlie will take care of them as long as he is able te de se, but of course he cannot afford, and ought net te be expected, te provide for their wants at his own expense. He should be aided in his charitable efforts by ether charitable people. A paragraph in the merniug papers states that ' a party of Polish emigrants arrived at Providence from New Yerk yes terday. They claimed that the emigrant bureau of New Yerk shipped them te Providence because they had net sufficient funds te take thorn te their destination at Buffalo, N. Y. They were promptly re-, turned te New Yeik. " It may be that the emigrants new in Lancaster have been shipped here by the same New Yerk au-' theritics, and thus left te :hift for them selves in a stiangc land among strangers unacquainted with their language or wants. The Fruit Prospect. The few days past of fine weather have been sufficient te furnish some indication of the prospect of the fruit crop for the coming season. The peachbuds in Lan caster and vicinity appear te be entirely killed, and there is net as far as heard from a single blossom en any tree in the city. The apricot trees appear te have steed the winter better. Seme of them arc new in full bloom and premise a full crop. Others in mere exposed places liave had the buds killed, and ethers appear te have been permanently injured, the weed being frozen. Pears, cherries, apples, grapes and small fruits generally appear te have escaped in jury. A Child's Sudden Death. About nine o'clock she went up and found the child te be dead. Dr. Westhaeffer was sent for and he thinks that the cause of its death was convulsions. Corener Mishler was notified.
