THANKSGIVING DAY.— Thursday last
w.w- generally observed by a suspension
of business, and of course it was kept in
all manner of ways. Union services were
held in the Presbyterian church, in which
most of the ministers in town participa
ted. Rev. Mr. Reimensnyder delivering a
suitable discourse. The Mendelssohn As
sociation were in attendance, and sang
the hymns, as well as opening and clos
:DC pieces, with much taste.
A large number of persons shouldered
their nxis and spent the day in fishing
for suckers at Mc A tee's dam. where large
cumbers have ieen caught; others start
ed with rifies and guns and scoured the
mountains for game, but with little suc
cess; and a third class followed up the
hundreds of suarcs for rabbits on the hills
and ridges. At Eisenbise'ssaloon a prize
game of billiards was on foot —a hand
somely finished cue being the prize. It
wit* won by Will Rittenhouse, who, al
though only about IN years of age, is said
to h. the best player in the county. In
the evening, or rather during the night,
a hop or ball was on foot at a house near
t*>wn, the participants in which acted on
tiie old song " We won't go home till
morning," and they didn't.
The day was showery and otherwise
unpleasant.

AMERICAN WATCH
Made at Wakham, Massachusetts
18 THE BEST.
It is made on the best principle. Its frame is com
posed of Soun PIATLS. NO jar can interfere with the
harmony of its. working and no sudden shock can
damage its machinery. Every piece is made and
finished by machinery'itself famous for its novelty,
a<* well as for its effectiveness , and is therefore prop
erly made. The watch i what all mechanism should
he—ACCURATE,SIMPLE,STRONG AND ECONOM
ICAL. Except some high grades, too costly for gen
eral use. foreign watches are enieflv made by women
and boys. Such watches are composed of several
hundred pieces, screwed and riveted together, and
require constant repairs to keep them in any kind of
order. All persons who haTe carried -ancres" *'le
pines" and "Engash Patent LeTers," are perfectly
well aware of the truth of this statement.
At the beginning of our enterprise more than ten
year* ago, :t was our first object to make a thorough
ly good low priced watch for the million, to take the
place of these foreign impositions: the refuse of for
eign factories, which were entirely unsaleable at
home and perfectly worthless everywhere.
How well we have accomplished this, may be un
derstood from the fact that after so many Tears of
public trial, we now make MORE THAN HALF OF
ALL THE WATCHES SOLD IN THE UNITED
STATES, and that no others have ever given such
universal satisfaction. While this department of our
business is continued With increased facilities for
perfect work, we are at present engaged in the man
ufacture of watches of the very HIGHEST GRADE
KNOWN TO CHRONOMETRY. unequaied Lv any
thing hitherto made by ourselves, and unsurpassed
by anything ma*te in the world For this purpose we
have the amplest facilities. We have erected an ad
dition to our main building expressly for this branch
of our business, and have filled it with the best work
men in our service. New machines and appliances
have been constructed which perforin their work
with consummate delicacy and exactness. The
choicest and most approved materials only are used,
and we challenge comparison between this grade of
OUT work and tho finest imported chronometers. YVe
do not pretend to sell our watches for its- s, vn than
toreign watches, but we do assert without fear of con
tradiction that for the SAMI WOXIT our product is m
eomparatively superior. All our wa: -t.es, or what
ever grade, are fully warranted, and this warrantee is
good at all times against us or our agents in all parts
of the world.
CAPTION .—The public are cautioned to bur only
o! respectable dealers. All peroons selling counler
fe.ts will be prosecuted.

science ha- reached us highest perfection, it is pre

the armies, in hospita.s and other public in.-titut.ons,
where it is regarded by the attending physicians as
the most speedy and agreeable remedy that can be
employed. Scarcely any neighborhood can be found
where well known <-a-es of d.seased lungs, whicii had

results are the nn.-t conv.iioing proof, of the superi

irritation- of the throat and lungs, whether arising
from Colds or Cough- or from other causes, and thus
