LOCAL AFFAIRS.
Dk. Up De Gkaff. —This distinguish
ed physician from Up De Graffs Eye and
Ear Infirmary, is stopping at the Nation
al Hotel, Lewistown, and will remain un
til the 15th December. The Doctor will
cure all blind ]>ersons, no matter whether
born blind or otherwise (if the eyes are
not run out), Deafness, Cross Eyes, Club
Feet, Deformed Limbs, Cancer, Tumors
a::J all other diseases. Consumption and
In r<ut diseases are treated by the "At
omiser," a new invention by which the
medicine is thrown into the lungs. Of
the hundreds treated by this new process
there is none but are cured, often but a
few days being necessary. Rheumatism
can be cured in a single day. Call and
ee the thousands of certificates. Physi
cians are kindly invited to call, as the
Doctor has no secrets, and will be pleased
to give any information desired.
B*%. The Peak Family of Bell Rigners,
and the celebrated Berger Family, will
give an entertainment at the Town Hall
tomorrow (Thursday j evening. The mu
sic produced by one hundred and twenty
bvli-. bv the juvenile silver cornet band,
by the harps, violins and other instru
ment-. Iveside the fine singing by the
troupe, make up a treat for all persons of
inimical taste, rarely equalled. As many
of our citizens have heretofore heard the
Peak-, it is unnecessary to do more than
make the announcement of their coming.
CONCERT. —Prof. Custer and his Juve
nile Siritring Class will give a concert of
vocal and instrumental music, in the
Town Hall, on Saturday evening next.
Admission 25 cents.
Prof. C. has been teachings large num
ber of the juvenile population, and
now introduces them to the public in cho
rus and song. He deserves a full share of
favor and patronage.
THANKSGIVING DAY.— Thursday last
w.w- generally observed by a suspension
of business, and of course it was kept in
all manner of ways. Union services were
held in the Presbyterian church, in which
most of the ministers in town participa
ted. Rev. Mr. Reimensnyder delivering a
suitable discourse. The Mendelssohn As
sociation were in attendance, and sang
the hymns, as well as opening and clos
:DC pieces, with much taste.
A large number of persons shouldered
their nxis and spent the day in fishing
for suckers at Mc A tee's dam. where large
cumbers have ieen caught; others start
ed with rifies and guns and scoured the
mountains for game, but with little suc
cess; and a third class followed up the
hundreds of suarcs for rabbits on the hills
and ridges. At Eisenbise'ssaloon a prize
game of billiards was on foot —a hand
somely finished cue being the prize. It
wit* won by Will Rittenhouse, who, al
though only about IN years of age, is said
to h. the best player in the county. In
the evening, or rather during the night,
a hop or ball was on foot at a house near
t*>wn, the participants in which acted on
tiie old song " We won't go home till
morning," and they didn't.
The day was showery and otherwise
unpleasant.
THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR IS67.—The
British Evangelical Alliance, in accor
dance with the custom which has been
0' -erved for several years past, have again
issued a circular, recommending the uni
v<T-iil observance of a week of special and
united prayer, at the commencement of
the new year. The churches of this

the snow at Omaha, Nebraska, three feet ;
deep.
