Agricultural, see. EXCELLENT FARINA DISHES. Farina is one of the most economical, nu tritions, and wholesome preparations ever brought to the table, eminently combining the gratification of the palate, with ample and healthful sustenance of the body, and destined to be a popular, if not an indis pensable item of daily nourishment. Un like most other articles, but ij|tle labor is required in cooking it. The "lowing are some of the more prominent modes, but a good cook will vary them oftentimes with advantage: Ice Pudding. —Roil one quart of milk, or water; while boiling, sprinkle in slowly one-quarter of a pound, or four large ta blespoonfuls of Farina, and continue the boiling from half an hour to an hour. — "When done, turn it into a jelly-mould and place it in ice or in cold water to stiffen. It thus becomes a beautiful ornament for the table, and may be eaten with wine or other sauce, pulverized sugar, or any con diment more pleasing to the taste. This pudding, even when a day or so old, may be sliced, and fried brown, and forms a most excellent dish for breakfast. Plum Pudding. —Boil three pints of milk, or water; sprinkling in slowly a quar ter of a pound of Farina; continue boiling half an hour or more; stir in the fruit; put the whole in a bag; and boil till done. Baked Pudding. —Boil one quart of milk, or water; and add the Farina as above. While the mass is cooling, take lour eggs and half a pound of sugar beat up well, with a quart of milk, and stir it into the mass of the Farina, which shuuld be lukewarm at the time. Add spices if desirable. Put into pans and bake. Omelet. —Cook the Farina as directed for Ice Pudding; when blood-warm, beat up eight eggs with it, adding salt, parsley, leeks, &c. Fry brown. fleckers Farina is generally accounted the best. Cure for Bronchitis. —One of our clev erest and most reliable friends, says the Ilolly Springs Herald, informs us that com mon mullen leaves, smoked in a new pipe —one iu which tobacco had never been used —is a cure and a certain cure for bronchitis. The remedy is simple and innocent, and within the reach of all. Recollect that this is not the remedy of a retired physician whose sands of life have nearly run out, but it is given to us by one who has tried it himself and seen it tried with others, and has never known it to fail in effecting a per manent cure. The remedy is simple, and we can certainly discover no harm likely to arise from a trial. HARDWARE! It is well known that all inflammable matter requires a certain amountof air to support com bustion, and if the supply is insufficient it is impossible to produce a flame. The heat of the fire, in ordinary cooking stoves, decomposes the fuel, and as all the fresh air is admitted un der the grate, its oxygen is exhausted before it has passed through the fire chamber. The close flues at the top of the stove then act as an ex tinguisher, tending to put out the fire instead of assisting the combustion. A large portion of the fuel, therefore, passes off in the shape of smoke, clogging up the flues of the stove so as to impede the draft and interfere with the ba king,—or of invisible gas which combines with the lime and so destroys the mortar of the chimneys, loosening the bricks, and exposing the dwellings to the danger of fire. The introduction of an additional supply of cold air would cool the gas h!< w the '"niting temperature, but by the proper application above the fire of air previously heated to a tem perature of several hundred degrees (which is one of the proniinent features of the patent) the gases are inflamed in numerous jets, and their combustion is sufficient to heat the oven, even if the draft through the fire chamber is entirely closed. In addition to the ordinary di rect draft under the grate and through the fire chamber, the gas-burner has an additional droft through the top plates, which is of itself suffi cient to maintain combustion. The upper draft not only consumes the gases, but it helps to strengthen and preserve the centre pieces which are most exposed to the direct action of the fire, and which are made double instead of the usual single plates. By means of this draft alone, all the operations of cooking can be car ried on when the fuel is but partially ignited, and the fuel consequently burns more slowly and more economically. A sufficient evidence of the effect of the gases in heating the oven is found in the fact that the oven will be ready for baking even before the fire is thoroughly kindled, and much sooner than in any other. There is scarcely a doubt that before long if a, "^ urn ' n K Cooking Stoves will supercede all others. The operation is so perfect and its consumption of fuel so small in comparison with other cooking stoves, and its heat so easily regulat J, (burning more or less as desired,) that every one who uses one of these stoves will have nothing else.
