Preserving Gathered Flowers. —For the benefit of our lady readers, we copy the following recipe for preserving the beauty of gathered flowers: Procure a flat dish of porcelain, into which pour water; place upon it a vase of flowers, and over the vase a bell glass, with its rim in the water. The air that surrounds the flowers, being confined beneath the bell glass, is constant ly moist with water, that rises into it in the form of vapor. As fast as the water be comes condensed it runs down the side of the bell-glass into the dish; and if means be taken to enclose the water on the out side of the bell-glass, so as to prevent its evaporating into the air of the sitting room, the atmosphere around the flowers is con tinually damp. The plan is designated the " Hopean Apparatus." The experiment may be tried on a small scale by inverting a tumbler over a rosebud in a saucer of wa ter. BULL'S SARBAPARILLA, PUT CP IN FULL QUART BOTTLES, And containing the strength of six times as much pure Honduras Sarsapariila as any other similar preparation in America. A FEW bottles of this Sarsapariila, put up f\_ several years ago, rendering it the more valuable, (as all well-informed druggists know that age improves it,) have been deposited at the drug store of CHAHI.ES RITZ, in Lewistown, where they are offered for sale at three-fourths the regular price, namely 75 cents per bottle. It has been a well established fact for years past that Sarsapariila, when pure and properly prepared, was the only true panacea for all di seases originating from an impure state of the blood, the use of mercury, intoxicating drinks, evil habits m youth, barrenness,&c. We bold ly assert that JO//.V BULL'S FLUID EX TRACT OF S.IRS-IP.IRILL-I is the only pre paration before the public that is prepared on strictly scientific principles and of uniform strength. The sarsapariila is purchased with out regard to price, and every pound, before being used, is subject to the strictest chemical tests, and its genuineness ascertained before beinz used. Bull's Sarsapariila also contains the virtues of several other valuable medical roots, together forming the best compound, and producing the greatest curative agent in the known world! This medicine, when used ac cording to directions, has cured Scrofula or King's Evil, Cancers, Tumors, Erup tions of the Skin, Erysipelas, Chronic Sore Eyes, Ringworm or Tellers, Scald Head, Rheumatism, Old Sores and Ulcers, Pains in the bones or Joints, Swelling of the Glands, Syphilis, Dyspepsia, Salt Rheum, Di seases of the Kidneys, IA>SS of Appetite, Pain in the Side and Shoulders, General Debility, Dropsy, Lumbago, Jaundice, Costiveness, Sore Throat, Bronchitis, Coughs, Colds, weakness of the Chest, Pulmonary Affections, and all other diseases tending to produce CONSUMPTION, Liver Complaint, Female Irregularities and Complaints, Sick ar.d Nervous Headache, Low Spirits, Night Sweats, Exposure or Imprudence in Life, Chronic Constitutional Diseases, and is a spring and summer drink and general tonic for the system, and a gentle and pleasant pur gative, far superior to Blu? KENNEDY, of Koxbury, has discovered j in one of our common pasture weeds & remedy that cures Every Kind of Humor from the worst Scrofula down to a common Pimple. HE hagtried itin over 1100 cases, and never failed ex cept in two cases, (both thunder humor.) He has now in his possession over two hundred certificates of 1 its virtue, all within twenty ruilea of Boston. Two bottles are warranted to cure a nursing Sore ! Mouth. Onejto three bottles will cure the worst kind of Pimples on the Face. Two to three bottles will clean the system of Bites. Two bottles are warranted to cure the worst Canker in ihe Mouth and Stomach. One bottle will cure Scaly Eruption of the Skin. Two to three bottlesare warranted to cure the worst case of Ringworm. Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the most desperate case of Rheumatism. Three to four, bottles are warranted to cure the Salt Rheum. Fiveto eight bottles willcurethe worst case of Scrof ula. A benefit is always experienced froin the first bottle, and a perfect cure is warranted wben the above quanti ty is taken. Reader, I peddled over a thousand hollies.,f this in the vicinity of 80.-ton. I know theetfecl of it in every case. So sure as water will extinguish fire, sosure will this cure humor. I never sold a botileof it but that sold an oilier; after a trial it always sjie.iks for itself. There are two things about this herb that appears to me sur prising; first that it grows in our pastures, in some pia ees quite plentiful, and yet its value lias never been ; known until I discovered it in 1616—second, that it should cure all kinds of humor. In order to give some idea of the sudden rise and great popularity of the discovery, 1 will state that in April, i 1833,1 peddled it and sold about six bottles per day—in April, 1634,1 sold over one thousand bottles per day of it. 1 (some of the wholesale Druggists w ho have been in business twenty and thirty years, say that nothing in the annals of patent medicines was ever like it. There is a universal praise of :t from all quarters In niv own practice I always kept it strictly for humors —but since its introduction asa general family medicine, great and wondeifui virtues have been found in it that 1 i neversuspected. Several cases of epileptic fits —a disease which was > always considered incurable, have been cured by a few j buttles. O, what a mercy if it will prove effectual in all 1 cases of that awful malady—there are few w iio have ; seen more of it than I have. I know of several cases of Dropsy, all of them aged people, cured by it. For the various diseases of the Eiv- | er, irk Headache, Dyspepsia, Asthma, Fever and Ague, I'a'n in the tiide.
