Sterttuitural, see. TURNIPS AMONG CORN. I wish to eoii the attention of brother farmers to the fact that turnips can be grown amongst con: with very little trou 1 e or expense. I have raised them for sev eral years in the following manner: — '•After the cultivator went through tne ccrn the last time for the season, I tallow ed that with the turnip seed, sowing broad cast: a boy follows dragging 3 hard-rake, and it is done. Last year I used a d:dl with better success than broadcas*. Two boys cm keep up with the cultivator—one to pull, the o her at the handles. Put or.e row ol turnips between each row uf corn. 1 of course am alluding to the ground that will bring a good crop of corn: in poor ground it is useless to put turnip seed or anything else among corn. I have tried several different kinds of turnips, and find the Yellow Aberdeen and W bite Norfolk to produce the best. The latter, I think, is the most productive. The seed can be procured at r.!mo: any of the seed stores in the city, at one dollar a pound, and a pound, I think, is sufficient for a five 2cre fieid. It u J most likely produce two or three hundred bus els." Now I consider the cost and trouble nothing 111 comparison to that amount of turnips to feed during winter and spring. I do net consider the corn injured in the least by the turnips, as they grow princi pally after the corn is cut off.— Simon. Are your Pastures Provided with Shade Trees. —lf they are. wellatid good; if not, open the way to a strip of woods, thai your stock may have the shade when they wish; and then plant in suitable pla ces in the pasture, some oi the hardier trees, which should of course be well pro tected. tiii they grow out of the reach < f the cattle. Locust, oaks, elms, and van us other trees may be planted thus with profit. The advantage x>i shade to a large stock will be great. Graces. —Place- a bone in the earth, near the root of a grape vine, and the vine will send out a leading root directlv to the bone. In its patsnge ti will throw out no fibre?—but when it reaches the bone, the root will entirely co\er it with the most delicate fibres, like lace, each one seeking a pure of the bone. I)n this bone, the vine will continue to feed as long as anv nutriment remains to be exhausted. SadishtS. —lf any of our readers, who cannot raise good radishes on account of worms, or suitable sod, will strew common wheat bran, one inch thick, on any ga#d soil, and hoe it in, and then plant their seed, they may eat as good radishes as anybody can grow.
