SHE GASES SE. Plain Talk for A Loco. There is no mistake that the extraordinary appropriations of the people's money since j Win. Biglcr has become Governor of this j State, are awakening even some of the Lo- j cofocos to the danger of an overwhelming debt which is threatening us. The last Berks Count v Press, an organ of that party in Old Berks, " speaks out in meeting" after j this fashion : ANOTHER STEP TO THE REAR. The Appropriation Bill of the last session of our State Legislature is one of the most \oluniinous documents of its kind on record. It is beyond all precedent, the most extra ordinary which has ever been conjured up as to the amount of its appropriations, not only as to the ordinary expenses of the govern ment, but as to almost everything else within its capacious grasp. Instead of being a bill providing for the expenses of the govern- j ment, it ought to have had a true title —one j expressive of its meaning, and *ne which j would indicate its objects. As we said in our last, it votes away, out of the treasury, j the enormous sunt of five millions, one httit- \ dred and ninety-two thousand, four hundred at at thirty-three dollars and Jo rty-four cents, j being an amount far beyond the means of | the treasure, and which must necessarily in crease our alreadv enormous debt. I lie title , of the bill is a falsehood because it does not j express its true object, and should have read: " An Act to increase the State debt, to plunder the Stole, and to fed the ha nary brigands and plunderers who infest the, public ennuis t and railroads, and to continue the circula tion o/ poisonous and unconstitutional shut- ■ plasters." Emptying the treasury would not satisfy the extravagance of the ruling powers, but the cancellation of the relief notes must be stopped, ill order not to interfere with the , immense projects and charities contained in the bill, so tliat we have in the year before us, the doors of the treasury opened to how oft millions of dollars, in channels hitherto un known, lavished upon State officials in the most reckless manner, and old exploded claims paid probably ten times over, and new ones received to swell the enormous aggregate con tained in the bill. Is this honest or Rcino cratic? We say no! and the people say no!! and their voices will he heard in a nam of condemnation which will shake the seats ol tli sr ntlicial cormorants to atoms. Five mil lions of money, the principal part taken from the pockets of the people, for a State like Pennsylvania, with no revenue from impor tations or any other source but direct tax ation, is astonisbiug, and shows an utter dis regard of tin' interest of the people, already suffering from a heavy load of taxation, which none but the most reckless, insane and corrupt would dare to inflict. Locofoco Consistency. The lUSth section of the Appropriation Bill provides: "That the cancellation of the notes issued under the act of fourth May, one thousand eight hundred and forty-one, and renewed under the act of tenth April, one thousand ei< r ht hundred and forty-nine, be, and Re sume is hereby postponed for another period i>/ three years from the passage oj this net." ' In 1848,' as is well said by the Lancaster Whig, 'the Locofocos appeared very indig nant when a similar provision was adopted. In 1851, they have themselves declared against the cancellation of the much abused Relief Notes. Let it be remembered when they are heard denouncing a 'paper currency,' that when they had the power they actually refused to provide for their destruction ! (lov. B-trier was last fall among the foremost in de nouncing the Notes. Now he signs a bill which postpones their cancellation for three vears. Who is so foolish or so stupid as to rely upon Locofoco pledges or the sincerity of Locofoco professions?' Locofocos I-fndorsing the Sinking Fund. Last fall, when ail election was pending, the f.ocos, with Win. Bigler at their head, ridiculed and denounced the Sinking fund Scheme. Now that the election is over, in stead of repealing what they denounced as absurd and useless, they have actually strengthened it by increasing its sources of income! The 26th section of the Appropri ation bill provides: " That hereafter it shall be the duty of the State Treasurer to pay over to the Commis sioners of the Sinking Fund, the whole amount of the three inili tax off.freight re ceived from the Pennsylvania Railroad Gom pany, to be applied by them to the cancel lation uf the public debt, in the same manner that all other receipts to that fund are ap plied." A B'#SELESS BODY. —The London paper describe an inquest held by the Coroner, on Elizabeth Vigors, aged live years. 1 lie body presented a horrible spectacle, being one imnp of flesh, twisted and distorted. De ceased's father stated, that soon after jit-r birth a girl threw deceased over her back to the ground. Since the occurrence, she as sumed a curved position, could eat nothing but bread and butter —and when touched, her tomes appeared to snap. She had been un der medical treatment for a long time, with out deriving the least benefit. He found her dead in bed. .Mr. Harrison, surgeon, made a post-mortem examination. There were no bones in the body; the limbs were purely gristle. It was an aggravated case of what was called " rickets." A Mass Meeting of the friends of Mr. Fill more, favorable to his nomination for the Presidency, was held in the Chinese Museum, Philadelphia, on Saturday night. John B. M vere presided, assisted by a number of vice presidents. A number of speeches were made. Great harmony prevailed in the meet ing. which lauded the' administration of Mr. Fillmore, and proclaimed its preference for his re-nomination as the whig candidate, with - it saying or doing aught to detract from any O! her candidate. The meeting was large and litkusiastie. (Kit.. —The price of wool has come down a little. A lot of new clip has been s.old at New-York at 38 cents a pound.
