FLOOD IN THE MISSISSIPPI. —The New Orleans papers, received yesterday, con tain accounts of a flood in the Mississippi, and the inundation of the country. From Natchez to Milliken's Bend, it is estimated that at least 150,000 acres of land, which had been planted in cotton, are now under water, and hundreds of the finest planta tions entirely ruined. The river now ex tends from Natchez to the Hills of Ouachi ta, a distance of over 40 miles, and every thing has been swept away. Every knoll and hill-top is filled with cattle, horses, and other domestic animals, and even bears, panthers and eleers are herding with them, forgetting, in the presence of a com- ; inon danger, their natural ferocity or timid ity. At Yicksburg the river is fifty miles broad. The waters have doubtless since subsided, as New Orleans dates, by Tel egraph, to the 11th, do not mention any further damage. Huicide has become quite a popular mania in France. There's no stopping it. The latest French journals record innumerable instances of self-destruction, among old folks, youngfolks, rich and poor—fair and foul—all for the fun of it! MARRIED.
