Believing that our opinions entirely agree. upon these points, I would were it •in 'my power, give to Judge Woodward any voice and my vote. * I am, very respectfully. yours, GEO. B. M'CLEt.LAN. Arrest of Railroad Cohductors—Sev tral of the conductors on the Lebanon Talley and the Reading and Philadelphia railroads, whose_names we withhold for :the present, were arrested in this city on Monday, charged with having at various times embezzled large sums of money on -tifeir trains. Arrests of other conductors and employees were made at the same time at various pints on the road be tween this place and Philadeltihia. A ,aumber of deteetives, employed by the aompany, have been traveling over the road for some time past, carefully noting down the number of passengers in each train and the distance traveled. A com -parison of their returns with those of the •conductorsaatkied the company that a aystern of embezzlement and false return was extensively practiced by the condifet ors and hence the raid made upon them = on Moaday. It may not be that all those arrested in:this wholesale onslaught are ifilltyl.but that many of them are so would seem, to de well established by the zobservatlons of the detectivei above mentioned—Patriot and Union. . asA gentleman popping his head ithrough,a tailor's shop window, exclaim ed—" What o'clock is it by your lap board V' Upon which the tailor lifted up ibis lapboard and struck him a blow on the, head answering, "It has just struck so.4dy - Johnson is described as feel. itig-ipktidid—his eye on the Presidency and his hand on three salaries ; Governor . senator. and General.
