There was once a g:rl who was very lazy and
would not spin .; and her mother might say what
she pleased she , eould not persuadelier to it. An
ger and impatience at last overcame the mother,
so that she gave her a beating, at which she
screamed aloud. Just at that time the queen was
riding by -in a carriage, and as she heard the
screaming she stopped, and on entering, inquired
of the mother, why she was heating her daughter I
