Circuit, died very suddenly two weeks

failing for several years. He leaves a
wife (formerly Miss Pfoute of Jersey
bore,) and two children to mourn
over his demise.

visual custom, in commemoration of

notwithstanding some of our young
men took occasion to get on a little
"hnjiday spree.-' In the evening,

noise made in our streets by the

nobody seriously hurt.

Wo understand that the Commis
sioners havo already been offered a
much larger sum for tbo old si to than
they paid for tho new, with tbo privi
lege of using tho old Prison until tho
new ono is completed, which, bow
over has been indefinitely postponed.
This movement of tho Commissioners
secures tho use of tho old, until the
new Prison is erected, nnd thereby
saves thousands of dollars to tho tux
puyers, by avoiding tho transportation
and maintenance of prisoners in the
prisons of adjoining counties whilo
creeling tho building on the old site.
Besides, it guarantees tho location of

the new Prison on afar moro desirablo
loca'.ion, nnd adds to tho business
portion of our town two lots, tlio
valuoof wb'ih cannot, now be realized.
Tho new Prison erected on the old
site, would have been a nuisance, on
the bank of the river it will be an
ornament. '

next Monday evening. It is to be
